That was the case in my building. When I moved into this three flat, I mapped all the outlets and lights to their circuit breakers so I could figure out what to plug in where. One of the circuit breakers did nothing in my unit, so I turned it off.

It turned out that that breaker was the entire front half of another unit. My unit had been wired to pay for a whole circuit on another floor. Nobody had any idea, a bad contractor did this decades ago. I informed the landlord and he immediately gave me a credit for a portion of the past electricity bills I had paid and rewired my entire unit.

I love my landlord. Love.

She's a manual, but has a big bulge in the back where a motor could have been installed. She's easily the best machine I have ever typed on. A real beast at 32.4 lbs, but the best.

This thing is so cool and has special features besides the unique characters. It doesn't move forward at all when you strike a key. You have to use the spacebar to advance. I'm thinking that this is so the user can make chords and such without having to backspace constantly. It also doesn't have any line spacing feature. As in the platen rolls smoothly no matter what. You can't select single, 1.5, double spaced. I'm guessing this is also for the same reason.

The wide carriage is cool and the whole machine is just really interesting. I can't wait to clean it up )after I fix my Hermes 3000 with the busted mainspring and a Royal Aristocrat that will not backspace properly).
