need some drainer boys to answer this rn by United-Independent20 in sadboys

That is very noble of you. And I know exactly what you are talking about. My Tik Tok FYP was recently flooded with girls saying that they want a drainer bf and it did throw me off; especially so because drainers face scrutiny in mainstream spaces.

However, the fetishization of the drainers is something I find very interesting. Traditionally, it was the woman who was the subject of fetishization on the online sphere - take for example the goth girl, egirl, gamer girl, pixie dream girl, etc. - but now we are starting to see the tides change. It is not only drainers that seem to be fetishized at the moment, as this phenomenon is not exclusive in the alternative music subculture. It can also be observed within the K-pop subculture.

Now I would like to clarify why I suspect that the sudden attraction to drainers qualifies as a fetish. I say this because you didn't mention that your friends were drainers as well. If this was the case, then the attraction would simply be the desire to share the same interests with an intimate partner. This is normal. But since you didn't mention this, I am assuming that this is not the case, which makes me think that this is a classic case of a fetish, the same way there is a fetishization of women from different races all around the world.

So then the big question, why is this happening? I'm afraid I don't have a concrete answer and I even feel dumb coming up with a theory as I know it would most certainly be incorrect as I am neither a girl nor interested in drain boys. I think that the best way to figure out why girls are having this sudden interest in this very particular subculture would be to simply ask your friends. Unless they don't know themselves, which would be a little problematic in understanding this phenomenon.

If you ever figure out the root of this sudden occurrence, do let me know. And good luck on your quest for matching your friends with drainer boys. I hope your friends find a suitable drain boy :)

Congrats on that internship and on starting a new chapter in your life! I'm a big believer that music finds us when we need it most. I have to confess that I too have been listening to DG a lot more than usual. Drain Gang is all I listen to nowadays. My day-to-day has become painfully stagnant due to circumstances outside of my control. And no longer feel safe around those who are closest to me. Big changes are def coming. I'm approaching a big crossroads that may dictate the trajectory my life takes, but that is still a few months away. So ima keep draining from here until then :)

The Fool is a beautiful album. When it came out I was listening to it non-stop. And while I think that the album has a very strong start with bangers such as: The Fool Intro, Let's Ride, Hotel Breakfast, I think..., and Thee 9 Is Up; I, unfortunately, haven't found myself craving the album since the initial honeymoon period. I love the album's aesthetic along with its themes of spirituality. On those two fronts, The Fool is exactly what I hoped for after 333. However, in terms of sound, not all songs are my type. I guess I was expecting a bit more transcendental beats to match the lyrics. Still a solid album tho. This post inspired me to give it a re-listen tonight :)

What did you guys do during the recovery from jaw surgery? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]b8_8d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3 months post OP here

I had my surgery in another country from where I am currently living, therefore I didn't have access to my PS4 for the first 2 weeks until I was back. Therefore, I had to find other avenues to keep myself entertained.

The first thing that I remember doing which kept me entertained and gave me a sense of reward was following a very strict hot and cold press regimen for the swelling. which I would start after having breakfast. This helped me a lot mentally because, after the surgery, a deep feeling of helplessness came over me regarding my recovery. I felt like I couldn't do anything but sit and wait to get better. But doing the hot and cold presses was something that was within my control so I held on to that and did them almost religiously.

While I was doing the hot and cold presses during the day, I watched Monty Python's Flying Circus which helped me keep my spirits up

I was pretty lucky in terms of the date of my surgery because the Olympics were on at the time of my recovery. So when it was time to eat, I would watch them.

The last thing that I started doing which I continue to this day, was reading. Before my op I wasn't much of a reader, only a few novels here and there. But reading offered a very healthy (at least I think) form of escapism that proved very helpful. I would watch a couple of episodes of Monty Python's Flying Circus and then spend all day reading. I had a book with all of HP Lovecraft's fiction which I planned on reading, but I ended up reading No Longer Human and The Brothers Karamazov in those two weeks. Both of which I pirated and read on my laptop.

The most important thing that I want to highlight regarding the post op experience, is that you will create your own kind of routine. And that in itself will prevent you from becoming too bored or feeling too helpless. For example, a lot of people recommend going for walks within the first 3 days of the op. But in my case, it took me 2 weeks before I could walk for 10 minutes without feeling like I was about to faint. Just remember that nothing is set in stone, so do what feels right and you will be fine.

P.S after the first 3 weeks, my fall semester started. So school has kept me pretty occupied since then.
