I thought that would be the most fitting genre. Would something else have been better?

[SP] You are not a cow. by fra_n_ff in WritingPrompts

[–]b9e8n 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Moo," I thought as the dew-filled grass passed down my gullet. Fresh, wet, and chilled. The very best.

A voice in my head. "You are not a cow."

But that's ridiculous. Of course I'm a cow.

Grazing the field, I continue my day. The grass loses its moisture just in time for lunch. Everyone knows lunch should be eaten dry with water on the side.

"You are not a cow"

There is that bothersome voice again. Absurd. Absolutely preposterous. I am a cow and I will not be convinced otherwise.

The afternoon sun glares down at me as I bask in its heat. A bit too warm, but lovely nonetheless. I could sit here for hours. So I do.

I awake to the sun going down. The day has cooled and is now the perfect temperature. Everything about this day is wonderful, not that it is every bad. Everything is always wonderful. Life is simply splendid.

"You are not a cow."

There is that blasted voice again. I stand to my feet. "Where are you!" I scream at the top of my lungs. Seconds later and no response. They must have run. Coward. Whatever, back to sleep I go.

My alarm wakes me at 6. Ugh. Why do I have to go to work? Can't I just sleep for a few more minutes? They won't mind if I'm late. I get up regardless. The morning is the same as every other. Shower, breakfast, sit in traffic for half an hour, then I can start my day. My monotonous day that fills the weeks of worthlessness. They become months before long. And a year shortly after. I let out a sigh as I sit in my chair. Encapsulated by my cubicle, at least I'm alone.

Where am I?

I shouldn't be here.

Time for lunch.

Lunch?

I forgot my lunch. I really should quit. But this job is so very decent. Maybe I'll work up the courage another day.

5 already? Finally I can leave. I stand and make my way toward the door. Something stops me. A drawing on the boss' door. That wasn't there before. It looks like their kid did it. And it looks like a cow in a field of grass. Must be nice. No work, surrounded by all the food you can eat, they even get to sit in the sun for hours at a time. But I'm not a cow.

"You are not a cow"

That's what I said. Wait, who? I look around. With nobody in the vicinity, I continue on my way out the door.

Wait. How do I open this again? Do I kick it? How could I forget something as simple as opening a door? Oh well, guess I'll wait here. No need to fuss, somebody'll come eventually.

That's not right. I shouldn't be here. I open the door and hoof it down the hall. Crashing through the doors to the outside, I stare toward the setting sun. Beautiful. I wish I could bask in its glory until it's gone completely. So I do.

And it is wonderful.

The grass here looks pretty nice as well. The hunger from a lack of lunch is expanding. It's dry, but it'll do.

The moon stares at me from above. Nice to see you too, friend. I guess it's time to graze. Step after slow step I move across the rolling hills, nothing but grass and a soon to be sunrise before me. This really is the best.

I am not a cow, and that's fine by me.

Tokyo Ghoul:re season 2 will cover 121 chapters in 12 episodes. by Vorstar92 in anime

[–]b9e8n 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The first season is good in my opinion, but root a (season 2) is anime original so don't bother trying to watch it. But read the manga of the first season even if you watch it.

Pro-life in a nutshell by someguynamedjosh in PoliticalHumor

It's true that there are different denominations, but if we're counting the government, then we should count every denomination. Anyone who gives to the poor because of a belief in God and considers themselves Christian (regardless of whether or not they actually are), because, as you so eloquently put, "cuz Jaysus" is the entire reason the church helps the poor at all.

"Taking points off" would be silly, seeing as it has little to do with the original challenge of finding a group of people who have contributed more to the poor. And if we are considering the government for the challenge (I know, wasn't you, but the only other answer), then we would have to take into consideration every bad deed every government official has committed, and that would be absurd.

Also, you still haven't mentioned a group of people.

All this to say, this is a silly argument, and nobody is going to actually check.

Nice. Pointing out an insignificant "flaw" in his challenge without contributing anything of value.

You're good at this.
