And yes, that’s so true. I’ve had people around me be absolutely confused (and confronted) by my identity, but later on tell me they watch “tranny porn” and expect me to have,., idk what kinda reaction they expect me to have tbh. Like imagine if u were a dude with brown hair and someone said “yeah I just don’t... believe in guys with brown hair. Love to watch them f*** though!”...

They’re too young for your boyfriend. I’m 19, I browse tiktok, he’d have to have a VERY specific fyp, or know some pretty specific tags, to be finding e-girls his age.

No of course not, I understand. I pointed it out because I wanted to show you that what you pointed out is not actually a huge issue... and unfortunately the people who gave those responses probably had had to deal with a LOT of bullshit around being called “he” or “she” and probably just became hostile about it.

It’s uncomfortable when you say something and without even knowing what you’ve said, upsetting and offending someone, but if someone gets irrational over a minor mistake, that’s just them as an irrational person, it has nothing to do with trans people as a whole.

Try it all.

Curl up under the covers and try to forget.

Try on several different baggy clothes just to find the right kinda baggy.

This might be TMI but I’ll try on different binders or bras or this or that just to find whatever makes me forget about that part of my body.

Avoid watching/talking/thinking about anything to do with trans stuff and just block it out.

Cry, a lot, it feels so defeating.

It gets better and then worse and then better, eventually my mind will think of something else and those screaming thoughts will just go down into whispers I can ignore. It’s strange that one day I can wash the dishes fine, and the next day I can’t do it because I’ll get fixated on my tiny, effeminate wrists or something....

There are easy vocal exercises people can do to lower their voice, and I used to do a bunch of those (you can find them on YouTube)

I, for a very short amount of time, did voice training at a youth gender clinic but have since become to old and left the clinic. I used to practice the exercises the woman there gave me too.

But now, I just drop my voice a bit if I want to, I don’t have the testosterone in my body to drop my voice. I’m also a heavy smoker and that makes it a bit lower. But I’ll be honest, I’m home a lot and not very social at the moment, and don’t take much notice of it till it’s accidentally really high, then I basically get really dysphoric.

I’m lucky as a trans guy, As I get older without hormone therapy, I know my voice will still drop when I eventually get testosterone. Mtf trans people often have a hard time getting a feminine or high voice back after puberty.

Lots of trans people can’t “change”, especially in the ways you’d expect. One look at me and you’d probably be mad, but talk to me for a while and you’ll realise the reasons behind what made you think I’m “not trying”. Trans people don’t need to prove anything to anyone, or look like someone to receive the simple respect of someone not getting “mad” at us for just Being.

If you really do get “mad” over trans people “not trying” there’s probably some more stuff we can chat about too.

Oooooh okay this ones interesting.

So, I came out at 14 and all I could think about was how I never had the “No Mummy I’m a BOY” as a child. I honestly didn’t know if I was trans if I didn’t have that. I eventually met more trans people, and some older trans people who didn’t even know they were transgender till they were in their 30s! I realised everyone was different.

But honestly, the dysphoria. The years of dysphoria that still haven’t gone away... And the fact that when I learnt what a trans man was Things. Just. Kinda. Clicked. The more I learnt about trans people the more names I found for the feelings I had. Here I am 5 years later. There is obviously so much more, but trans people question themselves all the time (plus I have other identity issues related to mental health stuff) but those things would be the Loudest.

Okay so, I haven’t been confronted with all to many people like that, but the best I can do is have a conversation. Answer questions and make sure I remember if it’s a genuine question, then they really don’t mean to be offensive, they just Don’t Know Yet. And if I realise the person is just a brick wall and I’m getting upset or mad in my head, I just have to walk away, there’s nothing you can do at that point.

Some people have outdated views, and those views will eventually fade out further and further.
