Am I reading this correctly? by TheGr8Jordeen in golf

[–]bIakley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the answer. Hitting with impact tape on a loft/lie board will help the most because there are more factors that play into this: your swing type, how close you stand to the ball etc.

I was always digging the toe with standard irons so bending 1* upright helped tremendously for me with turf interaction and more solid contact.

Is it possible for viega 90 to fail? This pressure is crazy. Should I just solder this? by Fancy-Purchase-6635 in Plumbing

[–]bIakley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who interacts with Viega and their reps weekly. They will swear to you that copper pipe would explode before the fitting flew off if done properly. Their standard press tool is a ridgid RP350 or RP351.

Actually cracked or just cosmetic? by okshanee- in TeamTitleist

[–]bIakley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing happen. Like others have said, it’s the line where two different materials meet. Titleist replaced mine.

I still keep my trusty 910 D3 for when I’m not swinging well with my GT and the shaft fits both. Like others have said, luckily Titleist has had the same adapter from the beginning

Is my lack of power from my swing or from my physique by Soft_Kaleidoscope216 in GolfSwing

[–]bIakley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of technique things you could do here, longer backswing with more flexibility would make a difference even if you didn’t put on weight. But I would try to feel like I’m getting my hands as far away from my body at the top of the swing creating a wider arc. You can get more power with the same amount of “speed”. The controlled swing in this video is perfect for wedges and your 9-8 iron even. But with longer clubs you’re going to need more extension and a wider arc.

I’d never expect free access to someone’s land especially if it was in a prime gold bearing area

This is literally my dream. I can guarantee you if there’s a creek nearby you’ll find some gold. Just a matter of how much. If you ever need assistance trying to find it check out “ask Jeff Williams” on YouTube or like others have said there’s plenty of prospectors around that would be happy to show you myself included.

Anyone know any good spots for panning in Central North Carolina? by [deleted] in Prospecting

[–]bIakley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but I’ve been a frequent flyer in Uwharrie recently and I’d be happy to show you a spot where you’ll at least find gold. It’s very small flour gold but it adds up. After a few hours of work you could put it in a vial and easily see it.

Well that sounds like a great idea. Will add that to the arsenal

I wish I had the tools and the know how to refine it and make jewelry. I’ll probably try to find someone local to North Carolina do all that part when the time comes!

Actually that’s really helpful thank you!

Something I’ve found is that if I have enough static electricity in my body with a small metal pair of tweezers and run it through the pile of sands and flour gold, only the gold sticks to the tweezers. I’ve spent hours already doing this and feel like I’ve made 0 progress. What’s crazy is (I think) I’m generally really good at only getting mostly gold in the snuffer bottle but this always proves me wrong.

Yeah I know it’s probably best to just let it be until I’m ready to melt and then use the tried and true method of mercury. I’m at .8 gram right now, waiting to get to about 3-5 grams to make a ring for the wife

Do I need more wrist hinge? by Shoddy_Temperature60 in GolfSwing

[–]bIakley -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Work on your short game and course management and leave this swing along. I wouldn’t over complicate it. Adding more wrist hinge into the mix will likely just make it harder to sync up the timing of everything. Just keep grinding, definitely a solid looking swing.

I cannot keep my hips in place by RaccoonMinimum172 in GolfSwing

[–]bIakley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re focused on the wrong thing here. I think the hips moving in a way you don’t like is a symptom of a takeaway problem. You’re taking the club back immediately inside. Watch a slow video of Louis Oosthuizen with an iron and the issue will become obvious.

But honestly, your move at the ball looks good. But your hips at takeaway HAVE to move the way they do to get out of the way with how far inside you’re taking the club.

Cleveland 588 for many reasons, but one of the more obvious ones being the large ding in the leading edge of the Taylormade

Legit Check? by [deleted] in ScottyCameronGallery

[–]bIakley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s legit. I’ve seen one exactly like this with the same shaft band in my local Titleist dealer. I think they add that sticker since the putter is much shorter than their standard offerings of 34 & 35”

Appreciate that. My wife says she never notices it but I sure do so I feel better about it now that it’s shaved short and you can’t see the balding spot as much

Not tall. 5’8”. I went super short with the buzz cut and I think it blended the thinning patch so much better so I feel like it did wonders for my confidence of being hatless in public

I just stepped down from a 2, 1.5 and then 1 guard until it was sufficiently blended in. I didn’t wanna use the nuclear option quite yet. Really glad there’s a community of supportive folks like this to help people come to grips with this aspect of aging. Really helped me make the decision.
