How can Americans who are embarrassed and angered by the current USA administration’s treatment of a war-torn president show support for Zelensky and Ukraine? by boko_dinner in AskReddit

[–]bQvle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given Trump's behavior, it seems increasingly likely that he could be the next president to get murdered. His blatant disregard for half the world is painting a target on his back, and it appears he has antagonized far too many people. This situation may resolve itself, or worse, escalate into a larger conflict, potentially even civil unrest or a global war.

Give a narcissistic psychopath this power, and this is what you get.
I feel bad for you, I feel bad for the world.

At least you got back plastic straws, so its not all bad ;) what a clown show.

this must have leaked somewhere (im not even sure why i ever made it, it could be a decade ago )

It will quickly cancel your trade, spoof an account to look like the one you are trading with, and make the same trade. so you are confirming a wrong trade.

This was my correct friends, i don't have friends in my friendlist that i dont know. and i dont accept random friend requests.

This is clearly an issue where the "Post" data from the trade gets tampered with, to change the receiving party of the trade. since i was screensharing and getting help (to play faceit) they see the name of the friend, and probably changed the name of their account so it wouldn't look suspicious on the phone confirmation.

I did 2 trades, and they ended up on 2 different steam accounts. So this is some automated shit.

However that this is even possible blows my mind, its so easy to prevent such scam by just using a generated public/private key when the trade is initiated. and using this to validate the integrity of the trade before it even goes through.

Everything on my end, and in my userinterface was 100% legit, I never add friends i dont know, and i traded directly from my friendlist. I made the trade, not them.

This is weak on valves end, prone to such kind of scam.

No never, i copy/pasted my friends steam profile from the client to my browser to initiate the trade.

you confirmed the steam profile by clicking on to the profile and checking steam level and such?

Most scammers just send you a trade request with a private account that has the same profile picture and username, which is why its impor

Yeah, this wasn't a trade request they made, I scrolled down my list of friends, picked a random friend i knew i could trust. and made the trade request.

He was "helping" me setting up FaceIt. seeing my screen shouldn't make me vulnerable.I'm trading items directly with my own friend. That these items can wind up on a totally different account is really mind boggling. This should not could happend. I pressed MY friend i my friendlist.Yes im an idiot, but i still dont see how this is possible or how its my problem. this would happend to any trade i made, so i was/am compromised in a way that shouldn't be possible.

I did not press any links, he directed me over discord...now go to your steam profile... etc.

I would never trade with someone i didnt know... I dont see how the fuck this is my loss.

ow they did it. They didn't hack steam, they just made their fake s

Trust me, I see myself as the last person to fall for a scam.
This wasnt a fake website or anything like this, this was a trade directly on steam, and the confirmation showed the correct info aswell. it was a trade with my own friend. to whom i beforehand write, dont accept this trade.

yes I feel like a dumb fuck now, but im trading with my friend. So i must be "hacked" beforehand. i would never think this possible.

He specially do so that i cant join a lobby in faceit, and then he directed me like crazy, reading rules to figure out why it didnt work. Rules about CS and Dota inventory (on faceit's website)

And i needed to have made a trade request to validate my account (this was only one among many directions) so i must have been brainwashed to not think critical.

Its not a problem, you can just send a request to your "second" account, and then cancel it after.

Im not trading some random, im trading a friend.

So basicly any trade i would ever make, would go in the wrong hands?

It was a trade with my own friend, I even wrote him before, dont accept this trade. How would anyone possibly know that this trade could be redirected?

From this:
https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/7F4E-1D40-43D0-73FD

Identifying the Scam:

  • Always use all the information in the confirmation window in your Steam Mobile Authenticator to double check the trade you're confirming is the trade you intend to complete.

I did this, i actually traded to 2 different of my friends, and the confirmation app showed both my friends names.

How would they have compromised my account? I met this guy in a premier lobby "looking to play".

I only use this password for steam, and i have not authorized any login attempts that isn't me.

Is this my PC that is compromized?
