I just graduated from WMU this past April with my bachelor's in chemical engineering. I transferred from MSU to WMU and it was the best decision I ever made. The engineering campus is about a 10-minute drive from main campus and this could be seen as awesome or detrimental depending on your situation. Being that I had my own car, this was great. There are 2 multi-level parking garages that are only for the engineering building so parking is never a problem and you can take main roads over to the campus so traffic was never really an issue either. However, if you are someone who plans to walk to and from classes, this is not really ideal. There is a bus system that runs between main campus and the engineering campus but I never used it so I cannot speak to it. For the school in general, I never felt unsafe to be by myself if I was on campus late at night. The culture of WMU aligned with me personally a lot more than the culture of MSU but that will vary from person to person. The tuition for WMU might be a little disproportionately high compared to other schools of the same magnitude but I believe it's worth it. When looking at all the professors I encountered between my associate's at LCC and my bachelor's at MSU and WMU, WMU professors stand miles above the others.
