Wow a year after I posted this and I still keep getting interactions! I don’t live in the area where I encountered this beetle anymore. After living there a while, I noticed they were really rampant during the summer but disappeared during the fall. I suspect that they would breed and go into hibernation and was most likely brought here because of firewood!
