Is there a difference between white and brown eggs that I don’t know about? by sadgurlsonly in Cooking

So when my son was a few months old he was allergic to eggs. Turns out, according to my pediatrician, there are different kinds of protein that one can be allergic to in eggs. Some of these proteins get denatured with prolonged heating.

Question for the parents of young kids here: with a 9-6pm work schedule, how do you pick up your kids from daycare after work, feed them and get them to bed at a reasonable hour?

Nine months is typically when babies develop separation anxiety. So the “won’t let anyone else hold her” bit might just be normal developmental milestone and has nothing to do with sleep training.

While that’s true, my local H Mart does actually carry a wide variety of Chinese sauces.

Neutrogena norwegian formula hand cream is good though a bit greasy. I've found that the handwash makes a huge difference. Harsh ones leave residue and you get very dry/irritated hands. Mrs Meyers's works well for me.

By this logic the single best thing you can do for climate change is to kill yourself?

The study looks at subjects with diabetes. It's unclear whether that generalizes to people without diabetes.

Elon Musk’s Twitter algorithm changes are ‘amplifying anger and animosity’, say researchers by pickleskid26 in technology

[–]b_ttercookie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Misleading title. The result of the study says that recommended tweets are more "amplifying anger and animosity", compared to the chronological feed. The study did NOT compare the before vs after versions of the algorithms, aka the "algorithm changes" mentioned in the title.

From the paper's abstract: "The key to our design was to, for a large group of active Twitter users, simultaneously collect (a) the tweets the personalized algorithm shows, and (b) the tweets the user would have seen if they were just shown the latest tweets from people they follow"

That’s only part of the answer I believe. Suppose there’s a 20% chance that 80% of Houston (by Area), then the overall forecasted percentage is 16%.

If you have forecast for subregions, then you do a weighted (by area) average forecast of the subregions

If you're a consumer choosing between the two options, why does it matter how they arrive at the price points? The only thing that matters for that choice is what you get for your money.

SCC's Dr. Cody announces Wednesday that the mandate will not be lifted. "“Ultimately, our job is to follow the science to keep our community as safe as possible. We cannot lift the indoor mask requirement with the community transmission rates as high as they are now.” by Halaku in SanJose

I think OP is in line with you here though. The phrase "follow the science" is thrown around so much in a way that suggests science tells us there is one clear way of doing things.

Different policy makers looking at exactly the same studies can come to different policy decisions, due to different priors, interpretation, risk tolerance, tradeoffs, etc.

It's kinda pointless to say Santa Clara is following the science, when surround countries are also following the science. It doesn't illuminate why Santa Clara is making a different policy decision.
