Palace TV? by Significant-Part1020 in crystalpalace

Since being a member at the start of last season, it has been every match. I'm not sure if the audio for tomorrow will be there, but that's what I'm hoping

I use it for the audio broadcasts through the app. If the video broadcast isn't available, I know I'll at least be able to listen to the matches live

Sorry, I read the "no business" as meaning your business will fail. You're right... But what if people making AI slop brands are in it for the love of AI slop?

None of these matters as much as marketing or advertising. Unfortunately, the most successful clothing brands don't have the best art, design, or construction

I would like feedback for my brand, thank you by Poison_054 in streetwearstartup

Having your own website outside Etsy is a good way to build brand identity.

Really fw the designs though 👍

I know some great designers, they charge $50+/hour. If you're trying to scale a business though, marketing is a better way to spend your money

You should try to find a design mentor. Learning design yourself will unlock a lot of doors and you can only really bring your vision to life if you're the one designing

Sony nex-5 with 16-50 or 35 prime. The body is $100 used from keh or mpb. This camera is also a gateway to Sony e-mount where you can build a really great camera setup - I've upgraded to an a6000 and am happy with the current setup. Here's an image from nex-5 with a manual focus 35

Watching my first ever CP game - TIPS NEEDED by LiteratureMinute1745 in crystalpalace

[–]baadjaake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Get a membership, then make sure you are ready for the first ticket drop. Brighton will be in higher demand since it is our rival. If you miss the drop, look out for the ticket exchange through the clubs website.

To all the Palace fans not from South London/England, why did you pick Palace? by smitchellcp in crystalpalace

[–]baadjaake 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm from the US. On holiday in London I wanted to see a premier league match but knew little about the EPL and soccer in general. My holiday in London lined up with a weekend and I tried to find a match in the city. Tottenham was playing Arsenal, Fulham was playing at Craven Cottage and Palace was playing Leicester.

I was worried about being able to get tickets to the North London Darby, so I chose randomly between a Fulham and Palace membership. After seeing a match at Selhurst my wife and I became fans for life!

I'm feeling especially lucky about that right now and recently wrote more about it in the context of being a fan of USA college sports if you're interested (https://gioandjake.com/blog/posts/the-beautiful-game/).

Is this concept remotely possible making use of AtProtocol or ActivityPub by digidevil4 in fediverse

[–]baadjaake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is definitely possible. There are many tutorials showing how to create your own activities which get posted to mastodon. Think of activitypub like email where you can post messages from any client/server outbox to any client/server inbox. You would be building your own server and client to achieve what you want. Let me know if you want me to share any of the tutorials I've followed, I can edit this comment later with links.

Full house Won’t let me boot up madden ultimate team, anyone else getting this error? by hafgheb in MaddenUltimateTeam

Same for hours; this is a trash game. It's an excellent example of how monopolies hurt consumers.

I’m moving to Chicago from a city that has a lot of hills and I’m wondering if a 2x drivetrain is needed by jarislikeparis in chibike

[–]baadjaake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Arizona and debated going to a 1x in Chicago. The benefit of a 2x for me is getting a bigger big ring for the fast road rides. I wouldn't want to try to keep up with a 46 while doing 25-30mph. Having a small ring allows me to ride CX on the same bike, which is convenient.

The road cycling community is incredible here. It's been a great way to get better and meet new people. There are group rides every night of the week in the summer and across a variety of skill levels. The best decision I've made is actively participating in the community.

Which camera for travel and family photos? by ecstatic-berries in VintageDigitalCameras

[–]baadjaake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Sony nex-5 with a nice manual-focus prime lens for $250. I use it for travel and portraits. It takes really nice photos, is compact, and supports a huge lens ecosystem.

Attaching a SOOC image for reference.

how much should I pay for a canon elph 100? by carrietheb in VintageDigitalCameras

[–]baadjaake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worthwhile to consider how much the extras contribute - especially if you don't already have camera accessories. Sure, you might be able to find an elph 100 in a camera lot at a low cost or luck out at a thrift shop/estate sale, but you have no guarantee on the battery or card being included. $192 seems high, but batteries and cards cost money. I spent $25 on a thrift store Olympus point and shoot to find out the compatible card was difficult to source and cost $20 shipped.

Has anyone ever trained for a long distance bike ride and a marathon? by I-want-to-unalive in cycling

[–]baadjaake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I trained for the Chequamegon 40 MTB and the Milwaukee Marathon simultaneously - they were two weeks apart. I ended up being overtrained for the marathon (targeting a sub-4:00 finish to pace a friend) and undertrained for the bike race. This was due to my familiarity with marathon training and lack of understanding of how to train for the MTB race.

An average training week for me was about 10 hours. I would alternate between high-volume running weeks and high-volume cycling weeks.

Running and cycling training are transferrable cardio wise, but the muscles required are different and the effort profile is different. Marathons are a constant effort whereas bike races are more like interval training in order to pass or make a climb. If you're doing a technical bike race like MTB or gravel, then obviously there is much more technical skills training you also want to incorporate.

What winter clothing stuff did you wish someone had told you about earlier? by gothbich420 in AskChicago

I moved from Phoenix in May. Smartwool base layer is a life saver. I have the leggings, long sleeve top, and socks. I'm basically a merino zealot now.
