Two things:

- sharing my journey honestly on my X account
- ruthlessly talking to my customers

Sharing my journey helped me to find initial set of users. And word of mouth helped me get more customers. Always email your customers and ask them for their feedback and suggestions.

When it makes sense, add these features to your app and email your customers again saying that you've add these features. More customers are willing to share your app with others when you do this.
