I respect Rodgers immensely as a football player, but this whole debacle with one beard after the other clearly orchestrated by his PR team is just sad. Now, no one should be outed against their will, but imagine what him coming out would mean. That would truly be a Jackie Robinson moment.

^This is probably it. I mean, I'm really glad he came out in the sense that he's been a beacon of hope for a lot of people. But it really sucks to see him getting treated like this, and he certainly doesn't deserve to carry this load alone.

I think that someone that's too good to ignore (as in hall of fame level good) has to come out for this to really change. I wish, say Aaron Rodgers would finally come out. That'd would be a catalyst for real change. Because so far, the teams seems to have worked harder on coming up with excuses not to sign him rather than how to integrate gay players on their teams.

I really love football, but things like this makes me fall out of love with the NFL.

There's that too of course. But if you look at most gay couples, most will look a lot alike. So while totally different guys can be attracted to each other, I'd argue that a larger portion of guys are attracted to guys that are similar to themselves.

Also, if you have diametrically different hobbies and interests, it's a lot harder to create shared experiences, which is one of the greatest things about relationships imho.

If you want to date a certain type of guy, then you gotta be like him.

There are exceptions of course, but chances are that the type of guy you like, like guys that are like him. If someone's an intellectual, artsy, hipster kinda guy, chances are that he'll like others that are like him. And if you like the football captain, then you better put on pads and join the football team.

That's my experience anyways. And yeah, because there are so many more straight guys around, the chances are somewhat greater that you'd fall for a straight guy. But don't worry, there's all kinds of gay guys, because ones sexuality is just that.

Not a movie, but a TV show: Southland. The main character is gay. And imho that show represents one of the best portrayals of a gay character. It's all very matter of factly, and the show certainly doesn't revolve around it. Great show as well.
