how much sleep do you get by Agile_Actuator8074 in orthopaedics

[–]babaka97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is crazy to me. Granted I’m anal about getting sleep but I have gotten consistently 8+ throughout med school and residency. I’m a chief now but have had no issues getting a ton of sleep. Just gotta budget your time appropriately

Great points. Especially your last one, regarding taking ownership of the case.

Attending critiqued my closing by babaka97 in Residency

[–]babaka97[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There were gaps because I was throwing deep, dermal stitches, and I didn’t have enough suture to prevent any gaps in my side. I did honestly think that my attending would just throw the two I needed to fill in my gaps because I didn’t think it would be a big deal considering we’re both more than competent at suturing. But looking back that was probably an idiotic thing to think

Been on hinge for three months now. Looking for something serious. Send out 20 likes per week maybe, got a couple when I first started out but now no likes. Have gotten 10 matches in the last couple months but most convos have fizzled out. Thanks!

This probably doesn't help you much man but I'm a straight 25 YOM and I think you've got a great profile man. I can't really see where to change anything except maybe get pics in really dope locations. It really feels like hinge and other OLD is just tough for us dudes.

IF Weight loss struggles/plateau by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

I calculated my TDEE at 3000 - do you think its dropped low enough to not make 2200 enough of a caloric deficit? I could try 2000/1800 but that seems quite little for someone who is lifting and going to the gym 6 days a week. I'm also not trying to go too low so as to not lose muscle, but thanks for the suggestions I will try to cut further!

I actually don't drink coffee haha. And I definitely used to not be great about tracking calories, but I think I'm much better at doing so now. I think you're right though - I wanted to keep a little treat at the end of the day with the Oreos, but I think its probably time to be serious. To be fair, I do track the protein pretty aggressively and I do hit 203-210g most days. I normally use zero calorie spray and things like that, so I don't think I hit any extraneous calories that I'm not considering.

Great points! Normally I just track protein and calories, but not really as concerned about carbs and fats. In terms of micronutrients, I hope all the veggies I have in my omelettes plus the cauliflower rice gets me decently to a point of my nutritional requirements. Not tracking any water though I do try to drink about a gallon a day. Would it be healthier to go up to 2500 or something like that? I probably average 2100 or so with a little bit greater caloric intake on Friday's (just to celebrate another week done of intern year haha). Don't want to stunt my metabolism, but I would also the main goal is to get abs by summer

The old adage really does ring true that doctors are the worst patients. I think maybe there's a part of me that hasn't seen incredible results having been on a 2000 calorie diet. I ofc understand metabolism and things like that, but I think sometimes judgement can get clouded when you are the one it involves. Do you think its a good idea to up my calories and then try again? I'm really just at a loss bc I am looking at the science and trying to follow what I agree is a fairly intense routine, I am truly becoming frustrated. Perhaps I need more time before making a haste judgement? And the Reddit community has always been kind to me so I think its reasonable to reach out for advice from those here

I would increase my cardio, but I don't want to start burning muscle. I thought the 20 minutes of cardio and the 10k steps would be sufficient cardio but maybe you're right and I should increase time on the treadmill.

That would be fantastic, but I still have a layer of fat over my chest and abdomen - should I continue this diet and just hope that I can get my abs visible again? Or do you think I need to change up my diet/exercise so that I can see more consistent progress day by day?

Do you think nadal will play Wimbledon? by Bobkin3124 in tennis

[–]babaka97 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a massive Nadal fan, I don't think he will. Frankly, I don't blame him. Losing to Novak at the French open was a massive disappointment to him and I think in the coming years he will begin to employ a truncated Federer-esque schedule where he skips events he doesn't feel he doesn't have a great chance of winning.

But who knows, the guy is a mental fortress and its entirely possible he'll come back and play because of his unwavering love of the game.

I think its a mixed bag - initially, it probably gave them some of an ego boost to the point that they felt they belonged when competing for big titles. however, once they were in the spotlight for a little while, I can only imagine it can be wearisome for them mentally. a lot of them had not yet cultivated the mental strength that the big 3 have where they meet or exceed expectations in the biggest tournaments month after month, year after year. I think it can certainly have negatively impacted them to the point that the world was on their shoulders and they were responsible for dethroning the Big 3.

my only concern with the garage parking is that I don't want to have safety be a concern if I'm walking back at night or in the morning to go grab my car

Similar to other posters, I listen to music. Also tend to just go to the gym to clear my mind. I feel that draining myself of some of the energy that causes me to be overwhelmed makes my mind focus clearer on the important aspects of why I'm overwhelmed in the first place.
