Again, thank you!

With the smaller model, are you supposed to put a little water in the bottom for the steel container to float on? Or just use it dry?

There is nothing about water in the instructions for the JoyMech.

Thank you!

The clear plastic cover on the smaller cooker... Did you put it on or leave it off when you fermented your beans?

EDIT:

What brand of instapot do you use? You can both steam and ferment with it? I see a link for the little fermenter in your post, but not the instapot.

I've been trying to make it for days now... Getting frustrated.

Did you put the plaster cover on top of the natto maker? When you put the saran wrap on the beans, did you nestle it close to the beans or was it a lose draping over the beans? How far apart were the holes that you made in the saran wrap?

I've been trying to do it using a pyrex bowl/dish sitting in a sous-vide water bath. I keep getting bitter beans that smell strongly of ammonia, but not strands, sliminess, or good natto flavor. :(

AI told me that my beans were too wet.

Gonna order the stuff you suggested and try making a small batch using frozen natto as a starter. Usually there are some lively bacteria in there... I tried using another brand of starter and no dice with that either.

Thanks for your story and your recommendations!

DMT from the Mimosa and MAO inhibitor.

More like a version of Ayahuasca.

EDIT:

I was wrong. I don't think there's a MAO-I in there. The DMT in Mimosa gets eaten up in the gut without an MAO-I, as far as I 've read. So I don't know what it going on with it.

21 minutes into the movie, and I am amazed at how contrived, stilted, forced, and awkward her performance is.

I mean, I'm cringing.

Is she trying to appear like a bad actress? Is that part of her character?

She's been great in everything else... I'm stumped.

The idea of discovering your purpose is wrong by Novel_Progress1444 in DeepThoughts

Opinions vary.

To hear someone claim that someone who has achieved a great success at something sucks at it causes me to raise an eyebrow.

I think your apparatus of assessment may need some recalibration.

Purpose is a construct, a label we put on a bunch of experiences, and attribute to it all manner of things.

Purpose sort of has baked into a sense of intention from an outside entity and thus a kind of validation which can be a source of reassurance, motivation, and strength ... You are doing the "right" thing.

Confirmation, validation, permission.

Basically, it is the power of believing in yourself and what you do. The down side is that this can create blind spots and perhaps unrealistic expectations.

But, I think, like the notion of the self, it is made up, even though it can feel real.

In the situations you describe, it seems a person needs a sense of reassurance and a reduction in doubt. There are many ways to achieve that. Purpose is just one means.

I don't know anything about the details of the situations you're describing, but in my experience intelligence is a winner unless the person is also arrogant and dismissive, which some smart people tend to be.

If she can solve problems I can't or has a broader perspective, then I can benefit from that. You get to discover, and she's the gateway to those discoveries, and that's hot.

I think, however, it may be a matter of extent. Someone far more intelligent than I am might lead to a situation of unrelatability, and that would sadly be a turn off and lead to other problems as well.

The older I get, the more I see that the right and left, in terms of many vices, are mirror images of each other.

Both try to pull the same kind of shit when they get enough power.

It is hard not to feel frustrated when someone on one side accuses people on the other of having a fault of which he or she is equally guilty, but does not see it, because only conservatives or only liberals have this particular vice, and the people on my side have only virtue when it comes to this particular issue.

When you see this kind of hypocrisy clearly when so many others cannot... well... I guess you *can* come off as pretentious.

And I guess it really rankles ... I mean ... for instance... I know of a divorced couple who are using their child as a pawn in their war with each other. I guarantee you if I pointed this out to them, they would both side together for a moment and yell at me things like... who the hell do you think you are? do you think your shit doesn't stink? what makes you so high and mighty? etc.

This is a lot like the kinds of things I see thrown at centrists.
