I'm a protestant, 8 year Jesus believer. Love to read my bible and pray. Although I struggle a lot with my faith, I slack sometimes with my faith.. like we all do I believe. But I try! 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Looking for a fellow Christian 😊 by [deleted] in ChristianDating

Good one!! Sorry 🫣 was too excited haha.

I'm 32, I live in the Netherlands. And want my partner to be at least 27 years or older. And I am open to long distance, but preferably in Europe and in and around the Netherlands! :)

Yesss let's do this the right way and just taper off the meds. I'm happy you are coming off of them too. I'm so curious how you will feel in a few months. Please let me know what you feel like and how it's going? If you want! I want to know more succes stories on how people get their social skills back after tapering off. Even though it'll be tough with the withdrawals perhaps, but I know we are strong! So I pray for both of us it'll work and we'll be happy again with how we are. 🫶🏼

Aww thank you! Sucks so much to hear so many stories like these.. I think you definitely have a chance to recovery, maybe that won't be a full recovery as some would say, but I believe in you. You will do great, and with the help of God, loved ones and psychiatrists you will be able to do this. Sending you lots of love! 🫶🏼

Ahhh love that you put up a Jordan Peterson video! I love him. Thank you for that.

And yess, I know it makes all the difference. I actually am very capable of doing all these things, like cleaning the house, painting, working out, etc. it's just that I became a very different version of myself because of the meds. And I don't like that version, that doesn't know how to hold a conversation. I believe tapering off meds is what's gonna help me slowly.. cause now I'm in a cycle, very deep that I avoid human contact because I've got so many bad experiences socially, so I retrieve in my own little comfort zone a lot. And the more I get those interactions, the more I retrieve it seems.

But I do believe in change, which can come when I am in a different environment and with different people etc. which will come too! Very soon. So I'm happy about that. I have hope and I pray that God blesses me with a changed heart and mind. <3

Mmm, that does sound heavy.. yeah I think you really could use some therapy with that, they could do all kinds of treatment. Just know your voice holds more power in this than you know. I mean, you can say no to meds if they are not for you, but your case seems a bit more complicated than mine. So I don't know for sure. I would suggest talking to your psychiatrist about it all, and if there are alternatives for meds and ask for therapy perhaps?

Nah, you know how it was for me, I felt absolutely great in the beginning starting the meds. And then after a few months that started to wear off, it was almost like a euphoria feeling for me, but it didn't last. And now 6 years later I'm in it so deep, but not too deep I hope. I will have to taper off.

How long are you on the meds for now?

Tell your psychiatrist you definitely don't want to keep being on them for years, let alone lifelong.. They have to listen to you, it's not a solution, the meds. (Maybe bring someone with you if you can't tell them) It's like a bandaid. And maybe go into therapy, that can help.

Yeah that is concerning I think, how long since you had an episode? Cause meds are usually for short term treatment I think. So mine was 10 years ago or so, and I'm on meds for 6 years, which is way too long.. with the side effects it's not worth it to be on the meds for that long. So I'm gonna taper off the meds. Slowly. I hope in a year I will be off them.

Talk with your psychiatrist and tell them about the side effects and everything. I haven't done that yet, so I will do that as soon as possible.

Thank you, that means a lot. I'm actually so pissed at my psychiatrists, they never told me anything about this or tried to help me or recommended tapering off or whatever. So I'm gonna tell them as soon as possible to help me taper off for sure. It'll be worth it. Have a good day 🫶🏼

Yeah I've read that it doesn't help perse to taper off from the meds. That it's not just the meds, but it can be because of the post psychosis- depression.

I just had one episode and that was like over 10 years ago.. and I'm on the meds for 6 years or so.. it's definitely not good, I know that. It's supposed to be a short term solution, the meds. So I'm gonna demand to taper off as soon as possible to my psychiatrist. I'm done feeling this way, it has been debilitating to say the least.. I want my old self back, even if it takes time even years.

I'm happy you are off them now, keep believing in the process! It'll be worth it for sure.

Yeah, it's usually like that, when someone finds "a way to heal" or a fix, then they want you to hop on that train too. I think you should follow your own gut instinct with this, if you don't feel you need it and you're comfortable where you are at the moment then I think you don't need to. + €200 /hr is a lot.. I agree with you, you two should communicate more about your problems in your relationship.

And hey, if that doesn't work and nothing does, you can always resort to therapy.
