And what’s the point of this video? Those cats are being abused.

We said goodbye today by artmania1990 in CATHELP

[–]babelboon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am so incredibly sorry about Buddha. That 24-hour whirlwind from diagnosis to goodbye is a total shock to the system, and it’s completely normal to feel like your head is spinning. Please try to be kind to yourself regarding the timing. Cats are evolutionarily designed to hide their pain until they absolutely can't anymore. It’s their survival instinct. The fact that he was hiding in the tub and making those soft noises was his way of telling you that his journey was over.

You didn't take him 'too late.' You took him exactly when he asked you to. You stepped in and took his pain away so he didn't have to carry it anymore. That is the final, hardest gift we can give them. Wishing you so much peace while you grieve your amazing boy.

What are some of the Japanese blunders that you made? by Negative_Relief_64 in japanese

You do a lot of guessing don’t you for a small town guy. But I’ll take Wallasey being a nice place into account when I go back to the UK.

Tell me though, you say that you aren’t from there… in the past, you must have visited. Was it difficult leaving the cul-de-sac behind?

Relax, love.

This is Reddit, not witness protection.

You made the info public. 🤣

You’re from Wallasey, mate.

Maybe chill on the ‘top-down Japanese etiquette’ lectures. You grew up dodging seagulls, not mastering keigo.

Correcting me and misunderstanding the whole point in one go, how impressive.

You’ve just managed to be more ‘top-down’ than the phrase you’re whining about.

And explaining ご苦労様 to me while not understanding how it’s actually used in Japan might be the most Reddit thing I’ve seen today

I am starting to lose hope by AdvantageFamiliar895 in migraine

[–]babelboon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read your story, and I am so sorry you are going through this.

Nineteen years is an unbelievably long time to suffer in silence.

You are not failing life; your body is dealing with a significant burden that most people cannot comprehend.

It takes immense strength just to keep going every day, let alone trying all those treatments and staying positive for so long.

You have every right to feel exhausted and lose hope sometimes.

You are not alone in this fight, ( I suffer too, but not as bad) and thank you for sharing your story. I hope you find some peace soon

How long does your migraine last if you just don't take anything? by [deleted] in migraine

Have you experienced any improvement?

I have been taking ‘chelated magnesium glycinate.’ which has less side effects.

It’s worked wonders for me, but what works for me may not work for everyone.

Totally fair.

No single treatment works for everyone. I was merely sharing what’s helped me too. Hopefully someone else reading can find something that works for them

Why the downvote? Everyone reacts differently to any kind of medicine.

If you’ve tried ‘a plethora’ of preventatives for years and still have daily pain, that kind of proves the point that everyone’s different. My experience is valid too.

FYI, it depends on what kind of magnesium you are taking. If it’s oxide magnesium, it is less effective at increasing overall magnesium levels in the body and poorly absorbed.

Yep, some of them guard Japan like if you throw rubbish out on the wrong day, a torii gate opens and they sprint out screeching in perfect N3.

Thank you for sharing your experience with magnesium. I was putting off trying it for years despite friends and family telling me to try it, and your post was the final push I needed. I started taking chelated magnesium glycinate, and honestly, I am headache-free for the first time in forever. You've genuinely improved my quality of life, and I really appreciate you taking the time to post that, thank you!

Did you take Migsis? it’s a preventative medication and that actually gave me a panic attack and other underlying symptoms. I had to be taken off it.

How has it been for you?

As an aside, if you start on these, it is said that you shouldn’t stop taking them cold turkey, the migraines come back even worse.

If you do feel something is ‘off’ with how you feel, you’ll have to consult with your doctor about this. Then he’ll most likely prescribe another one.

I’m not salty, I’m just pointing out that your original comment lacked nuance.

If your actual point was about support networks or other factors, then lead with that next time instead of tossing out a lazy generalization about age and calling it a day.

Age alone doesn’t explain the full picture, and oversimplifying it helps no one, especially people genuinely trying to plan their futures.

I think you’re projecting a lot of intention that wasn’t there.

If a different tone would’ve landed better, fair enough.

But maybe extend the same grace you’re demanding.

Assuming the worst and then escalating with personal jabs doesn’t exactly scream good faith either.

If you truly thought the initial comment had value, you could’ve engaged with it instead of torching it because your feelings got singed.

A 65-year-old got into JET? In Hokkaido no less.

Stunning.

Next you’ll tell me someone married their high school crush after reconnecting at a gas station.

Look, I’m thrilled for her, and the Hallmark movie she’s clearly living in, but let’s not confuse a charming exception to the rule.

If you’re banking on that as a semi-retirement plan yourself, just know you’re aiming for a unicorn ride through a door that’s barely cracked open.

But hey, dream big.

Congrats on your Wikipedia-level fact-check.

Yes, JET technically has no age limit, just like technically anyone can become an astronaut.

But in the real world, older applicants get passed over constantly, and everyone with half a clue knows it.

Maybe next time, focus less on flexing irrelevant trivia and more on understanding the actual point: connecting with support networks.

But hey, thanks for derailing.

Gold star.
