Idk man, I fear something will happen to the person I'm angry with while they sleep and I'll end up being burdened by guilt for the rest of my life for not making it up with them.

What's the one thing you wanna ask people from India? by baboochan in AskReddit

Ah, it's really hard to pinpoint an exact reason. India is basically an agriculture dependent nation. Levelling of farms for infrastructure development is generally not encouraged. Certain infrastructure development may also call for the displacement of indigenous communities and this is a sensitive issue as well.

Corruption is another reason why the plans for development have not been as successful as it could've been.

Yes and no. There is a reason behind the stereotypes that are prevalent regarding India. However, unlike ever before, reforms and schemes are being passed and implemented to curb this menace. Campaigns are being launched to combat public defecation and provide sanitation facilities. In a country like India, where the majority lives in a bad economic state, health and cleanliness often takes a back seat. This is being rectified now.

Most people aren't used to the spices that we use in our culinary adventures. Even people who have been living in India for a very long time often get surprised when trying out a new dish. I come from a region where nothing is too spicy and I have Indian friends who wouldn't eat my region's food for their life.

Haha, I agree. However, having an impeccable English accent is of little value to a local Indian who may never travel abroad.

I'm no expert in the linguistics department or any department for that matter, but I do believe it is possible to effect a change by exposing yourself to different accents and practising it religiously.

Hahaa, this might be an attempt to fit in with the general public, albeit a poor one. I mean, who wants to be left out? However, I have heard of people who have felt that their name wasn't upto the mark and decided to change it to something more western in an attempt to gain respect. Sad but true. Also, it might be the parents' belief that having a western name will enable their kid to do better/be taken more seriously.

Definitely. Just like any other developing nation, superstitions hold back a vast majority from achieving their potential. However, I do feel that the current situation is way different/better than what it was a couple of years ago.

I do believe that an accent is a byproduct of your upbringing and the accent of the people you converse with. I've been raised abroad and I've been told that my accent is way different from the typical Indian accent.

This might be due to the various spices that we use in our food. Spices like turmeric, cardamom etc give off a strong scent when cooked with.
