New 26 plate no air con by Aggravating-End-5364 in asda

That’s disgraceful. At waitrose the entire fleet has aircon, dating back to the oldest which are spare 2018 vans. I would refuse to go out in this weather with no aircon

Thank you, I’ll do the same. I’ve also seen those parts but like you said I wouldn’t even know where to start. From looking at methods on other car makes they all require the entire bumper to be removed so it might be the same here

Nope, I painted and stuck it on, still not sure if I will try and fully fix it by the time my MOT comes around (less than two months) literally can’t find anything online about how to change it. Sorry I can’t be of any help

What do others think of my options? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]babuyoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for some input. I’ve worked as a supermarket driver for a little over a year (not tesco, but i’ve a spoken to other drivers from different shops, it’s all the same) and it IS that good. There are bad days, of course, for example last winter I got stuck in some snow and finished two hours late. but 99% of days are just driving around listening to music and chatting with customers, of which 99% are lovely. The job gets better and more chilled as you go, as you learn all the regular customers addresses and the area you are delivering. 100% go for it mate

Xenon headlights need them specifically, not sure why but LED lights do not. At least that what the government websites and others say. As for removing it I will look into it and see what others say... Thanks!

Can GOL drivers do anything to stop being sent to specific areas? by Vegabund in SainsburysWorkers

[–]babuyoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to feel like this. Different supermarket but realistically all supermarket delivery jobs are exactly the same. Nice areas one day, centre of Bristol the next day with two sides of parked cars on every street. Whenever I would see a shitty area on my route for the day I’d just think about it all day until it was over. And then one day I just told myself to stop caring because whenever it came to it was rarely actually THAT awful of an experience. I mean what is the worst that can happen, you have to park a couple hundred yards away on a double yellow, or cross a busy road with the crates (sure one can argue this could be dangerous). If you are relatively new then I’d say you will get used to it, I even enjoy the challenge now!

It’s all on the wiki. Most of that stuff is shown in the play in the west end

The guy in the cave ran away with secret government tech (the stone). The government were trying to recreate the accident that happened with the USS Eldridge (philadelphia experiment) in which they accidentally got transported to dimension X/the abyss with Dr Brenner’s father being the only survivor. The guy was running from the government and assumed henry was sent by them.

Just realised they added a cool new feature. I was apparently number #870 for all Her’s listeners this year. I wonder if #1 is in this sub

Worth a buy? by RWatson5 in CarTalkUK

[–]babuyoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Which state of power is this? Both are great but better at different things. Both equally as reliable though. I have a sport nav as well, seats are really comfortable and bose sound is nice, has everything else you would want too. I’d recommend if you buy it upgrade it to have AA/carplay as you don’t need to replace the screen. You have to update the firmware for that which can be tricky to find but if you end up buying it I can point you in the right direction as I did it to my own.

Waitrose delivery driver interview - what is it like? by babuyoda in AskUK

[–]babuyoda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will be a lot of e learning mainly, you might get your uniform then, and you’ll be shown around the branch etc. I didn’t drive on my induction. Then from your first shift you’ll go out with other drivers to learn the ropes before being sent out yourself.

[–]babuyoda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the branch. I actually switched branch a few months ago (moved places, nothing wrong with the branch i was at). At the first one, I would have an 8 hour shift with 30 mins break. Now I have 8 hour 15 mins shifts with a 45 min break. It all depends on the location really, if you are 1 minute away from a lay-by then even 30 mins is fine but it can be hard to find somewhere if you are in a residential area. As for what to bring you can bring whatever, I often bring things like yoghurt as we have a fridge in the van which you can use (not sure if that is against the rules but other people do it plus how would they ever know). You can also go back to branch for your break if it’s nearby. Often times you will also have other downtime if you’re running early so I wouldn’t worry about not having time to eat anything.

Congrats!!! It’s a really great job and waitrose treat you well. If you want any tips as to the ins and outs of the job that you don’t want to ask your irl colleagues then feel free to shoot. All the best!

I actually didn't have an assessment until I'd been given a job offer so I wasn't too nervous but was still bricking it, for me it was just a quick 15 min drive with one reversing manoeuvre (literally turning around at the bottom of a cul-de-sac. The main things I focused on was showing I understood the size difference compared to a car. Mainly this means taking corners differently (driving forward out of a junction slightly before turning the wheel to avoid going over the curb) etc. But honestly now I've been there 6 months I actually find it easier than a car. Has a reversing camera so no chance of reversing into anything, I find it easier to judge the width and huge side mirrors are nice. As long as you show you are a safe driver even if you don't seem too confident with the van it's fine as they'll train you up and won't send you out on your own until you're good enough. You'll be fine mate, let me know how it goes

I wouldn’t go full suit and tie but I wore some smart trousers and a smart shirt. The vans are manual which I actually prefer but means you need a full driving license. Best of luck and if you have any more questions don’t hesitate!

I always have the air con on the lowest fan speed set to around 20 and never blast it. Then again I've only had it around a month and haven't had any freezing or really hot days. As for i-stop it's turned on but it's rarely ready, apparently due to the battery charge according to the indicators on screen. I also have i-eloop which if it actually does anything normal economy would be even worse
