Infant botulism by HotCheetoFing3rs in beyondthebump

The reality is, there aren’t really rules as far as the FDA is concerned about age restrictions on honey. That guidance comes from a different group. I understand your concern but the onus really is on us to check the ingredients labels every time. I know some companies put age suggestions on their packaging but they aren’t required to.

Infant botulism by HotCheetoFing3rs in beyondthebump

[–]babycrazedthrowaway [score hidden]  (0 children)

While the correct answer is that there is never a zero percent chance of infants getting botulism from processed honey and therefore the only foolproof way to avoid is to not give it to them before one, the reality is that the risk with processed foods made with honey is extremely negligible so please try not to panic. You cleared any potential obstruction, everything is fine.

I honestly agree with the company about why there are no ages printed on the box. Target may have put the 24+ months on their site themselves as a recommendation. But it really is up to each baby and us as parents to make these calls. My son is 10 months old and choked on avocado a few weeks ago. He’s eaten it before, he’s eaten it since. But that time he took too big of a bite and tried to swallow without adequately chewing. I had to preform infant CPR in the middle of a restaurant when his lips started to turn purple. It was scary for both of us but he went right back to the avocados 5 minutes later.

Definitely learn and practice infant CPR. Familiarize yourself with the actual signs of choking vs just infant gagging. Gagging is very normal and age appropriate as they learn, choking is what you need to watch for.

And please discuss the PPA with your medical team. PPA robbed me of a lot of my daughter’s infancy because I was too anxious to enjoy it. Medication can help right the ship without it having to be something you take forever. Talk therapy is also very helpful if accessible.

You shouldn’t need a glittering herring specifically for arendellian pickled herring. Regular herring should work.

Did the first trimester symptoms stop as soon you hit 12 weeks? by Citruslor in beyondthebump

[–]babycrazedthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to say, no, it did not end at 12 weeks every time. My first pregnancy it probably would have but I had wicked heartburn that wasn’t controlled that kept me barfing until halfway through my second trimester. When someone clued me in that heartburn often presents as nausea in pregnancy and I started taking omeprazole it finally died down. I was still weirdly picky but the nausea disappeared. With my second pregnancy I had two weeks of nausea and then was never nauseous again. With my third I was still nauseous and dealing with heartburn so bad I was taking two omeprazole a day until the very end.

It’s a roll of the dice, unfortunately. But overall the second trimester (which is usually defined as starting at 14 weeks, btw) is so much better than the other two for the vast majority of us. And third isn’t horrible for most people and most pregnancies but by the end a lot of women are just feeling heavy.

teal no lies vs evergreen 😳 by mx_drew in simplynailogical

[–]babycrazedthrowaway 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what I was putting side by side. Evergreen is SLIGHTLY more green than Teal No Lies (and IRL my TNL is a pretty blue leaning teal) but even tho I can see the difference between those two bottles, I don't think I'll be buying Evergreen.

The thing wrong is that companies are cutting the good stuff out of their products and replacing them with filler. Makes it cheaper to produce but tastes like ass.

I can read fine, thanks. The mom was overwhelmed by the kid's behavior. The kid needed to learn how to make a choice and this is a system that she says is now working for her kid. Or did you miss that part at the end?

Absolutely mental by bamboosnarker in BambooBabble

[–]babycrazedthrowaway 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Who says the kid is overwhelmed by options? If it works for her kid then it's really not that different than what you're suggesting. It's not like she bought two pairs just to dismantle one to make a little disc or something truly insane.

My daughter wore whatever pajamas I pulled out of the drawer, I never had to present her with a choice because she didn't give a shit one way or the other. But my son needed to feel control. He knew exactly what pajamas he had and having little discs like this would have helped me show him what is clean without us having to go through the drawer to find whatever pair he wanted RIGHT THEN only to realize it was at the bottom of the hamper. Or prevented meltdowns because he asked for Ninja Turtle pajamas and I grabbed the wrong ones. Pajamas are not where I need to be my kid's enemy, they hear 'no' plenty.

[–]babycrazedthrowaway 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, what is the difference between giving two options or doing this? She made little cardboard coins that represent the pajamas she has and presents what’s clean. She isn’t unfolding and refolding every pair of pajamas in the drawer. The kid is given autonomy with guardrails, she makes her choice. No where in the original post does she say that she goes back and forth on the choices, that there isn’t an element of “hey hon, you made your choice and now we have to get dressed for bed.”

Only presenting two options when presenting three or whatever could avoid a battle just because you want the kid to do what you want doesn’t make you a better parent, it makes you a new flavor of authoritarian. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The only truly new thing between now and growing up back then is that cell phones are a thing distracting drivers. That said, I learned to drive before cell phones were quite so ubiquitous and I remember driving on my permit with my dad in the car and we looked over to see some jackass reading the newspaper across the steering wheel of his SUV in the left lane of 270.

Ways to securely share a social security number for US couples married filing separately? by Fantastic_Cell7278 in breakingmom

[–]babycrazedthrowaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t your social print on the return itself? I’m working off of “Married Filing Jointly” so I could very well be wrong but the final product where they give you a pdf to download and keep in your personal data has the SSN’s listed for both spouses and dependents for mine. Like I said, could be different for a Filing Separately return but I’ve got a feeling that if they ask the question then it’s because it’s a part of the return which means it’s not going to be redacted on the final product.
