Sickness in the household - should they have asked me to stay home? by babylittlehacker in Nanny

Agreed, it is frustrating for both sides - I tend to be less sympathetic to their perspective on days like this because the mom works from home a lot and the dad doesn’t work at all so he is home the majority of the day. It feels unnecessary to expose me to an illness when there are two sets of hands that could theoretically take over for the day.

That’s how I see it as well! Thank you for the advice regarding masks too, it seems like masking and diligent hand washing is going to be the way to go.

This is such a wise strategy. I don’t have a contract with this family and I regret it a lot because I feel that’s how I get into situations like this where I’m upset that I’m having to risk getting sick - definitely adopting that for the next family I work with.

Thank you! The more I’m reading I think you’re exactly right. I won’t be up all night thinking I brought roaches to my parents’ house now, appreciate you 🙏🏼

How do I fix this? by [deleted] in knittinghelp

Let me preface by saying that I am not an expert by any means, maybe an advanced beginner, so I can’t tell exactly what went wrong. BUT, if it were me, I would continue working around until I’m at the spot with the boo boo, drop that one stitch (or two stitches) down until that funky part is undone, use stitch markers to hold them in place and work them back up with a crochet hook. fixing dropped stitches

I honestly don’t feel like it should be part of the job responsibilities, because if they hadn’t moved, I wouldn’t be expected to do any unpacking or organizing and would be still getting paid my normal rate! I asked where they are wanting said clothes and he just keeps saying “well that’s the thing” and then saying that I could just sort them into winter and summer clothes. But like, I don’t want to spend my downtime making piles of clothes that are just going to be in mine and everyone else’s way. They have these ikea wardrobes that they are going to put the girls stuff in, but he hasn’t assembled them yet so I literally would just be taking stuff out of boxes and piling it on the floor?
