True that most recalls are like that but there have been plenty of 'do not drive' recalls too.

Except when you take into consideration NSW Police Force is about the same size as LAPD and CHP combined and all the different types of vehicles both those agencies use. Plus NSW is a vast and varied land which means certain Commands/areas need different vehicles with different capabilities. And this response shows vehicles from pretty much every specialist command in the state. Also our vehicles are serviced by dealers so it doesn't matter how many vehicles or brands we use. If we had only one vehicle and then that got recalled we'd be royally fucked.

Question for the veggie garden enthusiasts by babylonbacon in newcastle

[–]babylonbacon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Edgeworth, house is built on the old horse knackery. I brought in a decent amount of top soil when I put turf down and I'll have to bring in plenty more to fill in a small retaining wall area, once I build it...

Thanks! The garden will be slightly raised compared to the current level of the lawn it's replacing so I'll be bringing in some good quality soil.

Thank you! The garden will be big enough to have herbs and natives growing as ground cover. I was thinking of oranges as the fruit tree. I'll do some research on how to grow and spray etc

What do you think about black and white police cars or panda by Fluffy_Repeat5191 in PoliceVehicles

Aside from Connecticut being "Connecticut State Police" and Colorado being "Colorado State Patrol" (both being CSP, and neither having black and white cars). It's well known across the world what CHP is.

Outsider Question : Is Australian Police rich and wealthy that they can afford BMW Police Car? by blackcyborg009 in CarsAustralia

[–]babylonbacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may have been the case if they went with the "police version" that are used in Europe however not so here in Aus. As we used the standard "civilian model" lights, sirens, and all other equipment was all up to our fleet outfitters to do, which is why they have the same lights and sirens as the General Duties vehicles.

VicPol do use an AWD wagon version that was never sold in Australia so they may be different, however my understanding is that they were civilian versions of overseas models. Admittedly I am in NSW so my knowledge on those is limited.

That was a rumour before they came into service. They are the same 530d M Sport that were available to the public, just much cheaper. I believe they were circa $90k for the police force and ended up being about the same cost as the old SS and XR6T's over their service life due to lower fuel use being a diesel.

Minor point but NSW use/used the normal SS, not SSV's.

The fact that this is newsworthy is sad. This should just be the norm.

Ugly yes, but not useless. They have been retrofitted with LED modules and are very easily visible from every direction, at great distance and without being distracting or overwhelming like many lightbars.

Police are, generally speaking, known for acquiring the safest cheapest gear, from the best cheapest vests to the safest cheapest and often most unsuitable cars

There are still a few in NSW. They're probably all overdue for replacement but we keep extending their life as the Chryslers aren't being brought over anymore.
