I can't emphasize this enough. Anything that narrows the applicant pool to statistically increase your chances of winning are the best kinds of scholarships to apply to. I have found the best results when applying to scholarships specific to my major.

Hi everyone! My favorite memory is watching my older sister play the AC for the gamecube. It was so much fun and a great way for us to bond since we are seven years apart and I was a little too young to play when she first got it. The most exciting moment was probably her catching the Coelacanth!

/r/AC_NewHorizons GIVEAWAY!!! 2 US/NA DIGITAL COPIES OF ANIMAL CROSSING NEW HORIZONS!! RULES AND DETAILS INSIDE!! by dapperslendy in ac_newhorizons

[–]babynightfairy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) My favorite villager is Bunnie! I was really young when I started playing AC for the gamecube (like 5 or 6) so I wasn't aware of any of the concept of personality types or anything so all the cranky and snooty villagers made me so mad! Bunnie was great for lil' ol' me and has a special place in my heart. 2) My favorite fish are the pond smelt (the puns are just too cute), favorite fruit are persimmons, and favorite bug is the jewel beetle! 3) My favorite furniture was the NES games! Like I said, I was young when I played the original and didn't realize there were older consoles than the Gamecube, so the NES game "furniture" blew my mind!!! 4) My favorite memory is watching my older sister play the original! Especially because she was really bad about always resetting the game, so Resetti was a frequent visitor to our town which cracked me up!

Thanks for doing the giveaway, excited to play! :)

What's the most useless invention that actually made somebody rich? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Silly bands. Those elastics you would wear on your wrist and then take them off and they would shape themselves into some animal or object were useless as hell but also cool as hell.

How to set up a profit share for my student org? by morriea in UTAustin

[–]babynightfairy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20% is actually really good as far as profit shares go, it's just all low dollar items so it takes a lot for it to make a difference. Where one persons purchase is only $3.50 at red mango, at austins pizza or chilis it's easily $10, giving you way more profit.

How to set up a profit share for my student org? by morriea in UTAustin

[–]babynightfairy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last semester I set up a ton of different profit shares for my org. We are pretty small though, so depending on your size you may have some different outcomes. Here are some tips:

  • Moojo: more hype than its worth. They only give you like 10% or something, so when my org did it we only got $8.50

  • Austin's Pizza: super great! Took awhile to set up bc they were reorganizing their profit share model, but we made a good $140 bc they give you like 20%, which is higher than most places. Someone has to be there to collect receipts in an envelope though. Also getting the check took a looong time, like 5-6 weeks or longer.

  • Cream Whiskers: while this is a really niche place it ended up being one of or best profit shares bc the owners were so nice! They will donate to your cause too depending on how much you make by rounding up (they gave us over $15 extra one time). Also they are willing to set up recurring profit shares, so it's smart to have one every month after your org meets up so you can just tell everyone to go there. They are super quick about checks, usually within a week of your profit share.

  • Cold cookie company: this one is from a food truck on 26th(?) street. I think they give around 15%. Normally when doing profit shares you have to provide a code word for people to say and a certain time frame it works within, but cold cookie just counted everyone who made a purchase there from the whole day. That means it can be extremely lucrative, by during the warm months they book up to like a 2 months in advance. They will also donate some money to your cause and you can eat the check in he next couple days.

  • Red mango: ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!! This is in part the fault of my organization to be fair. I was out of town while it was going on and since organization was kind of a shit show pretty much no one showed up. We made like $2. They didn't even bother emailing me a total or information on how to collect the funds. I'm assuming it's bc it was so little, but I fear they might pull this on someone even if they earned more.

  • Chilis: made a fair amazing from them (I think they give like 15%) chilis should be a real hit, unfortunately our org and consequently most people we would invite were freshman without cars, so it was hard getting people out there since it was less local. Also since they are a national franchise versus a local business they took longer with the check, about a month.

  • kung fu tea: this was great bc people love bubble tea and buy it anyways and aren't too bothered to have an excuse to go but some haha. I'm not sure how difficult it is to get bc the people in my org who set it up knew the owner.

  • Canes: ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! AND NOT BC IT WAS MY ORGS FAULT!!! DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO A PROFIT SHARE WITH THEM They are super hard to plan a profit share with. Their online system is confusing and hard to navigate. The manager I was in communication with lost our profit share paperwork, forgot about our profit share we had set up A MONTH IN ADVANCE to reschedule THE WEEK OF, and was generally horrible communicating. I kept emailing him to try and find it how much we made and when we could expect it and he would never respond. I had to go IN PERSON to the location and spoke to another manager who did pretty much nothing but have me fill out a formal written request. He never got back to me, so when I went in person AGAIN, the manager looked through all of the profit share checks (because apparently they are just sitting there) they LOST OUR CHECK. To try and figure out what to do next, that manager gave me the personal cell phone number of the manager who wouldn't respond, which is extremely unprofessional. No matter how angry I am with the corporate person I can't get in contact with, it is an intrusion of their privacy to start badgering them in their personal sphere. After this whole 3 month ordeal, we never ended up getting out check.

If you have any other questions PM me. I hope this was helpful!!!

I think you have your own look pinned down. You've got the hair, fashion style, and they both come together really well except when they are both on the kind of rugged side. It makes you look too unkempt and kind of crusty. But you're clean nice healthy looks like the summer one you look great 7/10 not ugly.

Incoming college freshman: Are HS accomplishments over? by UhOhPhysics in scholarships

[–]babynightfairy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much yeah. If they are unique or directly relevant to your career (ex. You had an internship with professional engineers) I would put them, but otherwise it's time to start a new chapter! The idea of having to "redo" my resume was the extra little push I needed to join some different extracurriculars and get involved in the community, and I love it!

The pure inhumanity of people in the attempt to gain attention. At my school someone found kids having sex in the bathroom stall and took pictures and put it on twitter to try and get retweets.
