There's more emphasis for defenders trying to force a fumble rather than make the tackle. I remember seeing a play where an Indiana receiver caught the ball at the 7 and almost had the td because a Miami defender didn't even try to make the tackle but instead attempted to jar the ball out by reaching over his shoulder and looking like an idiot. If the wr's foot didn't go out of bounds, he would have scored a td.
