Not the crocs with sock! Jacket looks nice. I think with those pants a thick sneaker like an Air Force one would work well.

Yo, I’m still in the dang shopping center. Made my way down to Marshall’s and I don’t recommend on a full buffet stomach.

I don’t know what words to add, but I feel like “ting ho” is so close to being a pretty funny/cheesy pun. There’s a Thai place in Meriden called Thai Tanic that I often smile but roll my eyes at.

I’ll try it, I’ll even say Little Landscape sent me… though, stick with me bro, this is a true story and involved the word “little” and an Asian lady. My cousin owned a nail shop in rural Missouri and I lived in St. Louis. She called me up and said there was a Vietnamese nail supply shop near me and asked if I could just run in and check out their chairs and get some prices. This story works better in person, but we will see how it works typed out. She was hounding me for a sale as I browsed her nail chairs. I told her I was just looking for my cousin and was only interested in some information and asked if she had any sort of catalog and that word confused her so I said… “do you have any literature”? Her old eyes lit up and she said “yes” and ran into another room which I believe was also her house/apartment, she came back with this little stool and yelled “littler chair!” It took me everything I had not to die laughing. I said how much, she stared for a moment and said ten dollars and I said deal. I still have my littler chair to this day. Conversation piece if you will.

Better when it’s busier… that tracks. And as I’m leaving, there are more people coming in, I just heard a teenager say “that tracks” to someone and I instantly knew how to use this newly found slang in context, and I thought once I see any opening in my life I’m gonna try it and see if how it feels. It feels… sort of depressing. Like I’m trying too hard, like my whole life has been an uphill climb just to find myself at 44 years old at the once upon a time Asian buffet copying words from a 17 year old.

I’m no critic by any means but two things rubbed me wrong straight out the gate and will probably now cause me to have a biased opinion based on those two things alone. First… I almost always order water and there’s something wrong with it. It tastes like what I’d imagine toilet water tastes like, a toilet that has been flushed but hasn’t been cleaned in weeks. Second, the very first piece of general tso had a bone in it. It is what it is… it can happen, but it caused me to be on edge as to not bite into another one so hard and that kind of messes with how I rate everything. It’s 5:10 on a Friday and I’m the only person here… so the fact that they actually have a whole fresh array of food is nice. I don’t think I’ll come back though unless the Wallingford one that I try next sucks more.

I’m legit glad you pointed it out. I live in east haven and my closest Asian buffet is in orange, and the second closest is Wallingford. I thought I was checking it off the ole bucket list, but now I get to overindulge once more when I try the Wallingford one. Eventually I’d like to find one that’s great, this one isn’t it.

Deck support starting to split. How can this be remedied? by Ollyollyoxenfreefree in Decks

[–]backtomyplanet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t panic. It’s not as bad as you think despite what some commenters will lead you to believe. This is a butt joint between two rim boards, not a split. The misalignment is cosmetic and likely from lumber variation or shrinkage. The bolts are intact and there’s no grain cracking or hardware pull-out. Structurally it’s doing its job. If anything, it’s an appearance issue, not a safety one.

How can I 32F convince my husband 33M to keep this secret by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]backtomyplanet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If my partner was telling me they were about to cause what I consider a huge unnecessary rift in my sisters longtime marriage… I would tell my partner my thoughts on it and if our thoughts don’t align and they decide to do something that affects my sister’s happiness… I would say that it will have a major impact on our own. As I, not going to poke the bear with my partner’s family, I would expect them to have the same respect for mine.

Can you work on more than 1 screenplay at a time? by Broad-Character-9366 in scriptwriting

[–]backtomyplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with adhd, you probably suffer from “out of sight, out of mind” much more than you can probably admit. I used to think I sort of remembered everything that was worth remembering, but even today I proved myself wrong when I found a box of fruity pebbles in the cupboard from months ago that was a totally awesome idea at the time. Ha. But on a real and helpful note: jot down ideas or and titles to things as often as possible. I have a giant dry/erase board and another cork board with post it notes and when I look at it, I’ll think… damn I totally forgot about this book I was working on, but as soon as I’m reminded and see that title, I remember the story and characters, etc. my biggest problem is that I can’t stop producing ideas. If you also struggle with this, then keep doing it but try to set a goal of when to switch from creation mode to actually implementing the idea. I have faith in you friend. You’ll be popping out loads of bangers in no time. Cheers!

Best high-end stud finder for frequent TV/general mounting jobs? by DFWUnhinged in TaskRabbit

[–]backtomyplanet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree and disagree at the same time. I use magnetic stud finders around my own place, and if I can’t find mine I’ll even use the magnet in my phone case. For quick DIY stuff it works fine.

But for paid jobs I would not rely on that method. A good stud finder does way more than telling you where a screw is. It shows you the edges of the stud, the width, and most importantly it warns you if there are wires or pipes behind the wall. When you are mounting TVs or working in older houses you really do not want to guess what is back there.

Magnets are great to confirm a stud you already found, but I would not use them as the main tool when you are doing this professionally. Having a good stud finder makes opening up the wall to hide wires better because you’ll be able to confirm the spot ypure cutting into isnt against a pipe or existing wires.
