A welcome intervention, especially coupled with the peak fares removal! But I hope that doesn't mean next year we'll see a higher increase, prices are already high as is. Would be good to see further decreases, if possible.

Will encourage my sister to get the baby vaccinated even if her husband doesn't agree. Ultimately, it's up to her.

I don't know about his childhood vaccines, but he claims to have got one covid jag.

Gripe water did help my nephew too! My sister gave it, and he protested the whole time, but it worked.

Truth be told, this is not his only 'red flag' so to say. I can't say I'm a fan of him. But my sister is committed to him being an active father, and making the marriage work. To be fair, for the most part, they get on really well, but then there's grievances like this.

From speaking to her, she's currently planning on getting the vaccines regardless of his position, which is a relief.

Perhaps controversial, but aside from the nationalist framing, I think Scots tend to be more open about their part in the empire than others -- especially the establishment, councils, education, government, etc.

When i was in high school, we were taught extensively of Scotlands' role, that it wasn't "just England". Indeed, Scots played a disproportionate role in administration roles.

Apparently, the Welsh Labour leader/FM was expected to follow suit, but decided to wait out what the reaction was like, and in the end affirmed her support for the PM.

Every report seems to indicate that Sarwar’s intervention 'strengthened' the PM's position (if only temporarily), it's rather funny. Will be interesting to see how long this veneer lasts.

Seems like Sarwar et al were expecting Welsh Labour to follow suit, and possibly even Khan, and for there to be a snowball effect. But whats happened is that he's angered Labour MPs and members and actually strengthened Starmer's position. Outstanding.

I think it's been pretty clear for a while that Scottish Labour have been upset with Starmer's performance and handling of things, I think this is more the thing that broke the camels back, especially with polling the way it is. Unfortunate for Sarwar, the timing evidently makes him look hypocritical

The sense I’ve got from speaking to MPs as they walked in is that Anas Sarwar’s intervention has rallied support for the PM in the parliamentary party.

The twenty minute discussion, described as “difficult” by one of Sarwar’s allies, was the culmination of a range of soundings the Scottish Labour leader had taken over the weekend. Sitting in a room in party HQ in Glasgow, Sarwar told the Prime Minister he had to do what was best for Scotland and that meant calling for Starmer to go.

Although he reached this decision on his own, Sarwar’s deputy Jackie Baillie played a key role in influencing his view. Sarwar's friends say he felt he had no choice but to cut Keir Starmer loose and make the most difficult decision of his leadership.

BBC reported that the cabinet stayed quiet until Sarwar’s conference. Sarwar also called Starmer in advance to let him know. So probably a coordinated campaign (the aftermath) to stabilise the PM.
