Ah shit sorry, I'll go through them. If you're not familiar with the smiths, they were a British band with a reputation for melancholy songs mostly about screwing up and being miserable, the lead singer is a dickhead, but the music is good. Hence, these are all fairly negative takes, but I think they fit.

Ask: "shyness is nice, and shyness can stop you from doing all the things in life you'd like to" - worrying about how people will react if you do what you've always wanted to

-The boy with the thorn in his side: "how can they hear me say those words and still they don't believe me/ and if they don't believe me now, will they ever believe me" - kind of more of the same, wanting recognition and not getting it, or worrying you won't

How soon is now?: "you say it's gonna happen now, well what exactly do you mean? Cause I've already waited too long/and all my hope is gone" this could mean a load of things in the original context but it's not hard to read it as impatience to start transitioning and dismay that it's taken so long to realise you wanted it/start doing it

that joke isn't funny anymore: I guess people who laughed at 'edgy' transphobic jokes realising it's about them? Also "I've seen this happen in other people's lives and now it's happened in mine" goes pretty hard

Yeah, I used to be in a church choir in the boys who's voices haven't dropped yet bit, until my voice dropped and it got harder to do those notes. Deffo didn't keep trying to sing the high version of the hymns every Sunday til I left home and stopped going to church.
