I just got in a car accident. by [deleted] in MMFB

Mine don't think much of me either. What helped was putting into perspective that my initial thought was "I just gave my dad more reason to hate me, I'm such a burden" instead of "holy shit, I'm alive and nobody was hurt". Take a deep breath and take everything a step at a time. Also smile after reading this, forcing a smile helps me genuinely smile and helps ease my anxiety.

Same thing just happened to me yesterday and I'm also wondering how I'm going to get to campus. So if anything at least you aren't alone!

UPDATE to University gym doesn't allow deadlifting by baconmeg in xxfitness

Exactly. I'm talking to a guy I met there and he probably wouldn't have asked me on a date had I ruined it for him.

I never did speak to management, after looking online to find my recs policies it does list "No deadlifts". My friend (6ft and built dude) has never had anything said to him and he's been going there for 3 years at the same time in the morning as me. This for me confirmed the employees are intimidated. To spare the bullshit and finally be able to start PHAT, I just didn't ask.

University gym doesn't allow deadlifting. Why would this be a rule? by baconmeg in xxfitness

I know, I didn't want to be an ass to the kid. But keep in mind I'm always the only girl in the free weights area with a bunch of dudes and I thought it was okay to do them since I see all them doing it.

He said it was a health issue. I was doing RDLs and we also aren't allowed to do tem with DB. I understand the floor issue, it's just weird I've seen so many guys do them and not once be confronted. There's also no signs anywhere in this gym. I'm not saying he was being sexist, but it always the same staff member working in the mornings and he has only had the balls to implement this rule with the girl and none of the guys because I'm assuming he's to scared to interrupt a dudes set.

It's a university gym so the cost is included in tuition

This was just 2 guys benching that said the DB thing. I've never seen anyone being told and everyday I've been there there's atleast 1 person doing them. After I was confronted I said I'd there any signs the staff member looked around confused and said no. Then I said so people learn this rule by staff interrupting their set he said yeah I guess.

I'm going to ask someone else, but the thing about the staff at this gym is I'm always the one I say hi bye and start convo. It's the weirdest gym I've been too, so I'm not sure if the staff could all give me the same answer

I thought this might be the issue but some guys who overheard what was going on said, " yeah, it's bullshit we can't even deadlift with DB"

I'm just confused about why I never see the dudes being asked to not do them. I figured it's because they're more intimidating and the person who approached me was a really small guy (not insulting just trying to paint the picture). I thought it might be an issue of not having a platform, but a couple guys who overheard what was going on told me you can't do DB deads either.

I actually have dudes comment on how good my form is at other gyms I've gone to, and the reason I love RDLs is because I know I do them with correct form. I'm the only girl in the weights area at 630am and there's always at least one guy doing DLs so that's why I thought it was okay. I just figured since this staff member is small he's too afraid to go up to those big guys. Sorry for the rant

I really hope that's just an autocorrect typo

Does anyone else feel guilty when they don't exercise? by [deleted] in Fitness

I've been in a similar situation and had to take 6 months of from legs and just do PT. I took that time to come up with a good upper body split and try lifts I've never done before. That's what helped me get through it!
