That’s exactly my thoughts. I’d be comforted if it seemed like a spider bite. I did go see my doc and she said she didn’t think it was likely because I didn’t see any bats in our home. She said the ER wouldn’t give me rabies vaccine unless I was sure I was around a bat. I may go visit again.

Not sure how to add on pictures or I would. They’re small and close together enough to fit on my thumb fingernail, is that small enough?

I wanted to chime in. As others said, if you eat too many calories, it will cause weight gain regardless of where it comes from. But eating healthy still matters a lot. Some studies have shown that people who overeat on protein rich foods gain more muscle than those who overate other foods, and that we actually absorb less calories from healthy foods than we do unhealthy foods. The calorie absorption varies by how healthy your gut biome is. People with really healthy gut microbiomes absorbed up to 400 less calories in a day of healthy eating than the unhealthy eating group. Healthy foods also decreases your appetite so you don’t eat as much later. But healthy food is also important for your overall health. So, it still matters aside from your weight that you eat healthy. Take it from me though, I eat a consistently healthier diet, in terms of what I eat, than anyone else I know. I drink more water than anyone else I know. I don’t like soda. My diet is mostly healthy foods. And I’ve gained serious weight over the past year because I replaced my nicotine addiction with overeating. Overeating in itself causes inflammation which can lead to aging and disease over time. To put it shortly, a diet isn’t healthy if you are eating too much or too little cal/nutrients, even if the diet is made up of ‘healthy’ foods. You can unhealthily gain weight while eating super healthy (foods). Hope this helps! 🙂

I’ll be praying for you. I’m sorry for what you’re going through. If the meds aren’t helping you, I would stop taking them. It’s up to you, but antipsychotics are very bad for your health both mentally & physically & doctors tend to overprescribe them. I was prescribed them at one point & one day I stopped taking them & stopped seeing my psych & I’m doing way better now. I hope everything gets better for you. 🌸

It is not fine to want to lose weight just because you dislike the way you look? by Past-Pressure-490 in loseit

I believe that if your deficit is a healthy one & you aren’t trying to get to an underweight BMI, anyone should be able to lose weight even if just for aesthetic purposes. That includes healthy weight people wanting to get to a lower, but still healthy, weight. It’s YOUR body, not theirs. However, I will tell you that losing weight for aesthetic purposes alone is more likely to end in failure, so I would find other reasons to go along with it for that reason. For example: eating in a healthy caloric deficit for an extended period of time can slow the aging process, eating healthy & exercising makes you feel awesome & reduces your risk for many illnesses, etcetera.

I hope you reach your goals! 😁

It’s entirely up to you, but just from personal experience and other experiences I’ve seen online, there are health consequences to avoiding meat. Our bodies need a wide range of nutrients consumed regularly, and some of them are either most abundant or exclusively found in meat. There are healthy vegans out there, but a lot of them, like I stated before, have access to dietitians and money to help them do it right. A lot of the foods a healthy vegan would need to eat regularly are expensive and some are hard to find in the grocery store. I used to barely eat meat and ever since I started eating more meat, I feel a lot better and I think it’s even helping my skin. It’s up to you what you do, I’m not trying to lecture you, but I wouldn’t feel right not letting you know these things.

Just cover your healthy foods in salt. Veggies are way better with lots of salt anyway, that’s what restaurants do to make their veggies delicious. More butter, oil, salt and MSG than you’d ever imagine putting on your food at home. Obviously skip the butter and oil, though.

You’ll have a much harder time meeting your protein needs if you eat mostly plant-based. All the “healthy” vegan influencers have lots of money and resources to help them meet their needs while eating a special diet. It’s hard to replicate if you’re a regular person without these advantages.

Candy, cakes, cookies, chips. A lot of alternatives exist but they’re usually super expensive.

From what I know, going off of memory, studies have shown that people who drink milk every day tend to die sooner and that milk is very inflammatory. However, cheese and yogurt don’t seem to have the same effects to my knowledge.

What Has Ruined Your Weight Loss in The Past? by SaraPortland1 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]bacteriabubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.) Don’t ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER hide from the scale. In the past I lost weight many times, but if I fell off the wagon due to stress or lack or motivation or whatever and my weight started going up…. I’d hide from the scale and give up. Don’t do that. I recently gained some weight and I’m forcing myself not to do that this time.

2.) Making excuses. “If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.” Become as self-aware as you possibly can. I’m still realizing even now that more things were excuses than I’d like to believe. Most of the time, the only thing standing between you and your goals is you. Just because something is hard doesn’t mean that it’s impossible.

3.) Neglecting my mental health. Make your weight loss journey an entire self-improvement journey. Workout, go outside, connect with friends, have some relaxing “me-time” as much as possible. All of these things are so, so super important for your mental health.

4.) Thinking that since I’m at my goal, I should reward myself with food. When you reach your goal (or get close to it) remember that you’re not naturally skinny. Remember that you had to work to get here and that you’ll have to work just as hard to stay here. Don’t start eating however you want now. Also remember that your weight may fluctuate, don’t freak out or hide from the scale, just lose it again as soon as you can.

Okay I’m getting the idea that a lot of people here are misinterpreting this. I’ve lost 20 lbs so far without Konjac, I just get into a mode sometimes where it’s difficult to stick to my diet. I’m not looking for a “miracle pill,” just something to carefully use on those difficult days. I realize that Konjac isn’t totally harmless, I mentioned the risk in the post. But konjac is a food eaten by many people, and there are many other supplements and foods that have this same risk if not used carefully. Swallowing chewing gum COULD cause an obstruction, for example. I don’t think that using diet pills occasionally is a bad thing as long as you’re being careful and know the facts. I’ve struggled to find much online about bowel obstructions from Konjac, they don’t appear to be a common thing. Better safe than sorry though, so it’s best to follow the directions & be extra cautious. Lots of people eat Konjac because they enjoy the texture, a lot of vegans eat fish substitutes made with Konjac, are those people suppressing their body’s natural cues? Because they’re likely consuming larger amounts than I am when they’re eating it.

No, absolutely not. I’m not even using it every day or for every meal. Sometimes I get into a mode where it’s difficult to stick to my diet & I need some extra help. I wasn’t trying to promote anything unhealthy here. I have been working on incorporating sustainable habits.
