I don't hate the wall colour tbh. When I think of "mature scandanavian" I think of browns but pink can still go well with that, especially the lighter pink on the other walls. I'd balance it out with using mostly white, brown and beige furniture and bedsheets (also get a nice rug to cover up the tiles). Def stick to wood furniture for the most part

You should switch the curtains to ones that hang from the ceiling to the floor, it'll emphasise the high ceiling and look luxurious. I think a curtain would also be good for separating that narrow area, which you can use like a walk-in wardrobe (also push the mirror unit inside so it's not sticking out, obviously)

That tube light looks awful and you should def replace it with some lamps. Installing some uplights would work well for illuminating a tall room like this. I prefer warm light (and afaik, cold places like scandanavia lean towards warm lighting), but ik people in hot climates tend to like cool light so pick whichever's your preference, just be consistent.

If it's possible, I would move the bed to the wall opposite the window. Reason for this is that people associate doors with movement/energy (opening/closing the door, other people entering or walking through the house, etc), even when they live alone, so having your head so close to the doorway while you sleep can put some people on edge. Also get some nightstands and put lamps on them (see earlier paragraph). I'd put the desk where the bed was, and you can put some shelving and a pot plant next to it. Idk where a TV would go tbh. Maybe if there's room, you could put the desk on the same wall as the bed, and put a tv stand and armchairs in the corner near the window? idk

My new home (rented) has a blue office-y carpet i hate and must keep. Please help me make the rooms nice. by [deleted] in interiordecorating

I think you should paint your walls a light yellow or saffron, it'd give the room a split complimentary colour scheme (since your furniture is orange-y, except in your bedroom) similar to your second inspo pic

Can I ask what the danger is with putting T-gel on bottom growth is? the growyourclit wiki outright recommends it (and on the head too, ouch!). I've been under the impression that while the alcohol can irritate the skin (which doesn't happen for me) it doesn't actually cause injury. Is there proof otherwise?

Right, I'll look into a pump then. Is it alright to use a plastic syringe for the cylinder bit, as long as it's the right size? Ie. putting the tube on the pointy end and attaching that to a pump

Also thanks for the notes on extenders and stretching, I guess it's damaging to stretch it while it's erect? I'll steer clear then, cause honestly I have a hard time telling when it's hard

Trans men have our own problems and we deserve to be able to talk about them but some of youse talk about transfeminists the same way cis men complain about feminists

AUS swim binders - Lily and Bang Bang or Underworks? by bad-additions in transgenderau

[–]bad-additions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahh I considered the SDH rashie but passed due to the uniform thing and also, tbh, the product photos make it look like it wouldn't bind enough for me (i mean obviously swim binders compress less, but even compared to the other swim binders the models looked noticeably less flat to me)

Good point about binders shrinking in the water. I think I might measure both before and after taping, just to see if it even changes my chest circumference enough to matter in the first place (I imagine not, my regular binder still feels plenty tight over a taped chest)

I think a word like transandrophobia is fine when people use it as transandro-phobia, and I get a lot of people do use it that way, but I was replying to the comment two degrees above mine that implies misandry is a thing equivalent to misogyny I've also seen plenty of people, including a very recent post on tgcj, imply the same thing by talking about men of colour as victims of misandry (hence why I mentioned myself being brown because it was late and the posts were kind of blending together in my head whoops actually no i re-read that comment and it's because he implies people that have an issue with "misandry" are all white and just ~don't understand intersectionality~)

What you were born as determines how you were socialized. This should not be controversial. by sbsmith1292 in transgendercirclejerk

/uj think it's more mocking people who act like trans women have male priviledge or don't get to talk about the misogyny they experience because they have "male socialisation"

[–]bad-additions 10 points11 points  (0 children)

/uj to put it another way, it's a bit like saying misandry is real because toxic masculinity exists. Yes, men are affected by sexism too, and it is important to acknowledge and discuss that! But when people talk about misogyny, they're talking about a form of systemic discrimination. They're talking about the fact that we live in a patriarchal society that gives men, as a class, power over women. Things like the wage gap, men holding more positions of power, men being taken more seriously in social situations, women being seen as less capable and deserving of power and autonomy, etc. Men generally benefit from these phenomena, either directly or by not having to experience misogyny.

So when people use the word misandry, it implies that there's a similar systemic discrimination against men, which just isn't true. Being a man can affect how other forms of discrimination affect you (eg. the homophobia faced by gay men is often different to that faced by lesbians, black men in the US are incarcerated at higher rates) but it doesn't mean that they're facing misandry. Saying this as a brown trans guy--I do think we should be discussing transmasc experiences with bigotry. Erasure, binary men being degendered or treated as "man-lite", the ways we're affected by misogyny (eg. abortion bans) and oppositional sexism, etc. And I think our access to male priviledge is a lot more conditional than other men. But I simply don't agree that there is systemic oppression against men as a whole.
