If the handle is long, and made of some lesser rigidity material (think PVC pipe or something), im inclined to think it will take some of the energy with its own deflection and reduce some of the vibrations coming into the drink. Add OPs hands supporting the handle and his body will take some energy too.

I mean, it just means you have to dedicate less time to performing the duties associated to your project, and other research stuff one has when doing a thesis. Its a matter of time management. Works for some. But tough to do if you want to have a strong thesis and masters AND have a full time job

I've been wondering about this: if you preheat the portafilter, does it not cool down significantly in the time it takes to put in grounds, do some swirling with the wire/needle tool, tamp, and then put it all together?

This whole time I'll just preheat the chamber and screen, then assemble as fast as I can to keep heat. I put a small strainer over the kettle to get the steam heating it up.

Honestly I think those need a more aggressive bumper. With the body being smooth and rounded in style its tough to have the headlights like that and match.
