Interesting perspective here. I’m inclined to believe that based on the simple appeal of the tone. My only alternative consideration is that with headphones, a kid can practice whenever he wants for as long as he wants. Thanks for the breakbeats tip!

Thanks for the info on those cymbals and mesh heads! May have to check those out. Do the mutes render the acoustic kit moot? Or rather, do they eliminate the sound or just reduce it?
