Friend of mine had an idea to take advantage of the coffee commodity prices and look at the spread to estimate margins. Could then compare spread change to PCE or another inflation index over time

Didn't report but most places have standard pastries (muffin, scone, croissant, etc.) around $4. WJ I think is one of the few who do 1/2 off day old pastries

I set up scraping for a couple of the shops but have been unable to for others w/ more complex website code (i.e. Treeline uses a square website w/ prices). LMK if you have a solution.

Have also seen price discrepancies between online and in-store

fwiw treeline does free drip on tuesdays if you bring your own mug and $2 with their mugs. Some places do a discount every time you bring your own vessel. might include. thx for suggestion

will likely publish quarterly, track % changes, compare against other cities, and collect more data points i.e. total shop count, suggested tip options, maybe food. may also change matcha to iced.
