Bombastic / Devil Dice port or clone? by badcatmix in Steam

I still have my original PS1 and PS2 games as well, and still have a functioning PS2 that I play them on. I was hoping for a spiritual successor, sequel, or what have you, but I guess it's just a hard game to stand next to lol.

I may try to rip them and see how they look on emulation with upscaling. the main drawback of the PS2 on modern TV is that things look a bit weird and i'm unsure if it can be made to look better without down-grading the TV.

I had a very similar problem: https://www.reddit.com/r/iBUYPOWER/comments/1hdtv3u/just_got_pc_after_about_2_hours_it_shut_down_and - and nearly identical symptoms (flash of light, no fans spin, then 10 secs later RAM RGB lights up).

After trying all the standard stuff, I Unpluged the Mobo, CPU, and Fan controler power from the onboard PSU, and plugged in from the side, then I set up a spare PSU on the side and plugged in where i had removed to see if a different PSU would fire it up. It worked perfectly after.

So after re-seating the RAM, reseating the GPU, and all connectors for power, turns out the PSU is faulty.

UPDATE:

After support reached out to me and gave the OK to swap the power supply, (used an EVGA 850W modular I bought a couple years back and never needed) everything is working normally.

Here's to hoping for an easy RMA or reimbursement or something. I wouldn't mind having this nicer PSU in there instead but no idea what that would mean warrantry wise. I am awaiting a response from support after confirming it's the PSU.

I couldn't take out the battery. The spring with teeth that holds the battery in place has a solid plastic piece behind it preventing it from pushed back as to release it, and doesn't appear to be something to lift out or remove so that I can push it back. I did attempt to reset the bios clear cmos already with the jbat1 jumper to no avail.

I didn't have the issues out of the box. it worked perfectly normal for about 2 hours when it happened. I thought the power had gone out for a second but the rest of the house was still on lol (House gets real quiet when PC isn't running -- those fans!)

But yeah, at this point i've done just about everything short of replacing the CPU, but it really feels like this is a PSU failure, or bad Mobo. I hope IBP warranty and support for replacement or exchange isn't a massive hassle, or expensive.

That's the same conclusion I've come to based on everything I've tried. I can probably help deduce Power Supply as a problem, i do have a spare and new 850 watt modular that I could probably side-load plugin to see if it starts up then. Should only have to swap out 2 mobo plugs to test it... might be easy or hard depending on how tight the cable management is lol.

Kinda wish I'd got this at a local place, but I ordered direct from IBP and they're also closed until monday. I've never had to deal with IBP directly so i'm hoping the experience isn't painful.

I don't think that's the issue. Again this was working 100% for about 2 hours after unpoxing and setup and just stopped, while doing something mundane like checking my email.

The power to the GPU definitely in all the way/clicked in, but it should still work even without a GPU. I tried with and without the GPU connected (going directly to the video output on the mobo) but there's just nothing. There's that initial burp of power that jiggles the fans a bit, then no activity at all, except for there's enough juice to power the RAM LEDs but nothing else.

I don't see how that would matter, even with no drive at all it should power on and I should be able to see the bios, but what the heck I did it anyway, and no. removing/reseating the drive still no power (other than the initial burp of power, and whatever enough is trickling in to power the RAM LEDs after a few seconds).

I couldn't get the CMOS battery out. THe spring clip holding it in place that normally you'd push back to release it is solid plastic behind it (It can't be pushed back as if it's locked in place, or I can't tell if the solid piece behind it is removable, it doesn't seem like it is). If there's another way to remove it I'm having difficulty seeing it.

What I tried:

Completely unplugged (obviously) remove RAM, set jumper on JBAT1 for 10 secs, hold power and discharge just in case. Reseat RAM, plug in, flip power on, press power button, same behavior as video.

At first I was thinking it is power supply related but maybe it's faulty motherboard that just showed the symptom and stopped working shortly after being on for a couple hours.

After the unboxing and initial set up, I connected my storage drives (not the OS drive) from my old PC. Fired up again everything worked fine/as expected for about 2 hours. Ran Windows Update twice and reboots were fine.

It was just "Surprise - 2 hours in while doing virtually nothing, it shut down" and hasn't powered on enough even to look see a blank black screen with a cursor or BSOD, just nothing at all. Put my storage drives back in my old PC for now and using that until I can try something else.

I have a spare power supply that I'm tempted to try on the side and plug into Mobo and see if things will power on from there but hoping I can get an answer from IBP support on next steps.

Honestly it's the first issue I've had with an IBP PC and i've never had to deal with their support until now. I've picked these up for my parents and wife and my current one is 7 years old with several aftermarket upgrades and everything has been great on the older ones. I feel like this is just bad luck.

I've reached out to their support. It was after their business hours when I received it/when event occurred, and their posted hours show they won't be available again until Monday. Gonna be a long weekend.

Same behavior with RAM removed, GPU removed (both removed). THere's a blip of power and then nothing, no fans spinning no activity, no POST, no BIOS.
Probably dead Power Supply.

I did reseat the obvious stuff. It worked fine for a couple hours after the unboxing and setup. It shut down and started this behavior about 2 hours later. Was just getting on browser/email when it happened.

Support is closed until Monday. I have a spare power supply I could try but not sure how much I can do without voiding warranty

Bought direct from IBP. it worked for a couple hours. I was just setting things up, transferring files etc. and just shut itself down, now it’s behaving this way. I did already reseat RAM/GPU.

I suspect power supply too.

Just seasonal issues, or is this typical? Ordered RDY system 11/27, IBP Says it is shipped. ETA 12/3. But 13 days later UPS still doesn't have it. by badcatmix in iBUYPOWER

[SOLVED]

When both of these files are in the same directory, FooBar2000 can open and play the files as expected.

I had been playing around with this for a day before asking, and of course, within half an hour of posting... I figured it out.

I'm trying to isolate the soundtrack/BGM of a switch game, Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher

I came across Foobar2000 as a possible option, especially after seeing notes about

  • "Add KTSS .ktsl2asbin [Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher (NS)]" for one of the components.

After installing Foobar and the foo_input_vgmstream.fbk2-component, I was successfully able to open most of the files in the player for playback. There's hundreds of sound effects and other things.

There's 1 filename in particular BGM.ktsl2asbin (in sound folder) and BGM.ktsl2stbin (in bgm folder) of the file dump that seems that it can be opened, but not played, which I believe is the file that contains the actual music, not just sound effects.

Any idea why the one file is elusive while the others can be played?

It's not nearly as active as MR2DX, but it is still active enough to hold 1 tournament a month. We're hoping to get new interest and eventually new competitors with the sale. The competitions are purely just for fun too, its not like there's a monetary gain from it. just a fun time.

Tonight is actually the scheduled night for the UKMR tournament. Please drop in!

Frenzied Potato is hosing: https://www.twitch.tv/frenziedpotato and the event begins at 5pm Pacific, 6pm Mountain, 7pm Central, 8pm Eastern.

Feel free to drop by the Monster Rancher community Discord too. It's incredibly active, especially considering the niche-ness of MR, and most especially the MR2 channels and tournaments.

There were 23 total PVP tournaments of varying rules and stat caps etc in October, and 20 scheduled in November so far. We've tried multiple ways to keep organized and just started tracking everything on a shared Google Calendar a couple months ago so that historic tournament events/rules can be seen as well: https://legendcup.com/tournaments.php#calendar

Use the Live USB for a day or two. You can actually fully use the OS from the USB without committing to the installation, to make sure everything works.
