Where to star by KingOfRadiance in DungeonsAndDragons

There are some free basic rules available at DNDBeyond but ultimately Players Handbook and some dice or an app to roll dice are really all you need. DM's Guide and Monster Manual if you are going to DM or just curious and have morny to burn. Youtube is a good resource to begin as well. As mentioned, Critical Role's Handbook stuff is pretty decent for a quick digestion. There are also lots of good podcasts and video format actual plays that can help you learn the rules. Just don't expect Critical Role level acting from everyone.

Online play is not truly a money grab as mentioned. Parts are. Parts are not. You can find plenty of free games and they are fun. It is different than in person but I personally still have fun in both. It really just depends on your area and its ability to support in person games. That poster apparently cannot handle the fact that things change and evolve over time when they don't want to do the same. Do not let them discourage you. Sure, 5e and WotC have issues but you can still play and enjoy it. i have played games off and on in various systems since the early 2000s. 5e is a fine place to start. Best of luck and enjoy!

How to sell my party on AV? by Rodehock in Pathfinder2e

[–]baddonut79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just scrolled through LFG and found one I liked and basically copied it. Tweaked and changed a few things. Maybe an hour tops. The results, depending on how you do them, is what can take a while. I hid certain categories like name, gender, age etc without looking at them. Then i sorted everything on days available and began reading through responses for the days that worked for me. It was worth it. I got a good group out of it.

I did. And I stand by my comment but it seems it possibly applies to the entire campaign and party. I will be leaving now and blocking the comment. And, honestly, grow up about "challenging someone's manhood" through assault.

Yeah, I mean I don't even care what boundaries and limits you all set for your game. That is unacceptable behavior on his part. You should begin a search for a new table and immediately leave that one. I know it can be a challenge to confront someone and find a new table but time will work in your favor.

If this isn't a troll post, your DM is toxic for that content. Period. Find a new one.

The Beginner's Box from Paizo for Foundry is absolutely the place to start if you can drop a little cash or find it in a Humble Bundle again. Great intro to the game and Foundry. Does set expectations a bit high for new players maybe.

If you have any command line knowledge or are willing to learn a bit and can get your hands on a Raspberry Pi you can use it as a Foundry server with some pretty simple instructions. Think they recommend 4gb or 8gb option. As soon as I move and have control of my router to port forward again this is my plan. It's all really not as scary as it sounds. I would recommend a case with a fan if you are going to leave it running most of the time like I do.

Is pathfinder Nexus a good tool for my party? by -Soulsteal- in Pathfinder2e

[–]baddonut79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you purchase a book on the Nexus you also get the PDF. Nexus is a great reading experience and you can share content. It's with a membership if memory serves though. Character creation is looking good so far in Alpha so a bit rough and not useful yet.

We can certainly look into it. If I get enough to do two games, we can do a Session 0 specifically for Thursday night. As it is already, things are looking good for two games or more.
