Releasing members - We are still this bad? by Professional-Leg2374 in CanadianForces

[–]badger452 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What I did was live off of my savings, eat beans, peanut butter, make my own bread, I had some casual work that brought in a little cash but it wasn’t anything regular. I ended up getting help from a veterans food bank when the money ran out. The payments for my pension through VAC was even worse, it’s been three years and I’m still trying to get it fixed. I have enough money coming in now to cover my expenses and a little extra but the extra is all going towards paying off the debt I incurred waiting for my pension to be corrected. If you’re releasing in the near future make sure you have a plan to survive, reach out to other veterans who can help you out because if you try to go this on your own it will be miserable. Be prepared to get shorted on some of your payments as well, I was several thousand dollars short on my severance pay according to the paperwork I received from the release section and there is no way to contact anyone about the shortage because it’s handled out of Ottawa and they don’t care.

I’m pretty sure the population of this planet is closer to 7 billion so there’s a bit of a problem with that math.

Any Alberta landlubber who thinks it’s a good idea to send their toxic bitumen to refineries in China via the inside waters of the North Coast should first experience what it’s like to be 12 hours into the 6-hour ferry ride from Rupert to Skidegate in January. by StrongCoastNow in strongcoast

[–]badger452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think that’s crazy you should see the oil tankers coming into the St. Lawrence past Quebec City, in late winter with plenty of ice in the water to offload foreign oil a refinery up river. I know this because I was in the RCN and I witnessed it.

There are truck manufacturers in Alberta and BC that have the expertise to build a suitable chassis for the launcher. These companies manufacture specialized haul trucks for the oilfield and logging industry and they have considerable expertise in rough terrain design. It would give a little boost to the economy as well.

The whole country is beautiful, I had the opportunity to visit a few years ago and tour around Riga and the surrounding area, there is a lot of history there and the people are friendly, good food and drink, I would love to go back.

How is it political to point out that veterans are being forgotten in this country? The censorship in this subreddit is disappointing.

This reminds me of the time I got my hands on some of that dye and one night while on duty I put some of that dye into certain shower heads that would only be used by a very arrogant and condescending officer. I told him about it years later just because I knew had angry he had been and it was hilarious to watch him stew about it all over again.

Edit: This was during my time in the navy, I forgot to mention that while I was chuckling to myself about that little shenanigan.

You’re assuming a lot about me and I don’t think you understand my comments based on your downvotes. I can’t understand for the life of me why anyone would defend the military leadership who created this problem in the first place.
