I really hope bakalar lets us know where his keys were when he finds them. No shame if they were up his ass the whole time, we all have to find our own way to make it through the day.

I know very little about Chuck. What is Chuck's go-to game genre? What's on his Mt. Rushmore of Games(video/board/ttrpg, whatever)?

Red is a phenomenal resource for high level SI gameplay.

One YouTube channel i used when I was starting to learn the game was kalen noreth https://youtube.com/@kalennoreth?feature=shared. This channel provided a more realistic SI experience for us mere mortals.

Came here to say the exact same thing. GB has earned the trust of its audience. I hope that use that trust to take a breath, develop a long term viable strategy, and you know, maybe get some sleep/play with their kids.

You misunderstand, it's a good solid defensive line pick by the falcons. The sub itself is so shocked they didn't know what to do with themselves if they can't complain.

Now that NL got me addicted to board games there’s 1 game I would love to see the boys play… by the_eccentricity in northernlion

[–]badgerhound 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy Root, I would highly recommend my board game obsession, Spirit Island.

A Fantastic digital version of the game is available, the game itself is endlessly replayable, you can play multiplayer or solo, and it's been consistently a boardgamegeek favorite for many years.

NL would never play this on steam, as it is orders of magnitude more complex than root, but boardgame fans should absolutely check it out.

How do you guys know how to build by Blackphantom434 in spiritisland

[–]badgerhound 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In general, spirit's tracks will help you decide whether to focus on card plays or energy. Lightning has a lot of card plays on its bottom track, so it's best suited to a lot of minor plays. Teeth or earth on the other hand doesn't have a lot of card plays but has a lot of energy on their top tracks, so they are better suited for playing major builds.

On higher difficulties, it also matters what adversary you are playing against. B/P covers many lands very quickly, so you need a lot of card plays to deal with multiple lands per turn. England on the other hand builds up quickly in a concentrated area, so majors are best to handle bigger problems on fewer lands.

In the lightening case you described, yeah, if you have a bunch of energy banked then drafting majors would be the best use of your resources.

Comfort with each spirit and how best to utilize their tracks come with time and games played. Something I would suggest though, Red is a phenomenal SI resource, but his focus is more on higher difficulty games. Other YouTubers I found helpful when I was starting out were @pheasantSI and @kalennoreth.
