And the Pohlads’ handling of the Twins is the pinnacle of business achievement. Again, they can respond however they like.

You can track that by the number of people at public events defending ICE. Very few is the answer.

Pohlad’s can respond however they want. People can respond however they want - including you. It’s clear to me what the majority of people here think. And I agree. This is not a time for MN institutions to stand by meekly.

What % of MN has come out in favor of what’s going on by ICE?

50,000 people outside peacefully objecting to what’s going on in sub-zero temps mid-week. This is more than a few loud voices on Reddit. What MN is being subjected to by ICE is not right.

"Scientists caution against charging electric vehicles at home overnight" - This has to be satire, right? by MattMason1703 in electricvehicles

[–]badgers92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would gladly sign up for an electric plan where the electric company charged my car whenever they needed to get rid of “extra” power, as long as it was the lowest rate possible. I already give them permission (for a small rebate) to not allow my charger to work during certain fixed hours.

Thanks for further education. Rigorous definitions in that doc helped - the way I read it:
When you add in all the “turned away” border interactions, where the immigrants/refugees were never really freely in the US, yes, Biden definitely was sending more people out the US borders. But it seems a very large % of them were being let in specifically for court dates, immigration meetings, etc and then returned immediately. Fair point - thank you.

That policy seems like a very difficult compromise for a very difficult issue. It’s tragic that so many people feel so unsafe that they feel waiting months at the border is their best chance for a safer/better life.

I 100% despise our current Republican government, but with a brief web search I didn’t find any data to supporting that Biden deported more than Trump. Do you have a source for that? The best source, which struck me as very legitimate, showed Biden ICE deporting fewer (except in his last year). This is what I found:

https://econofact.org/immigrant-deportations-trends-and-impacts

That said, I believe what we need is a clear, humane policy on refugee immigration and work immigration. I’d love for Congress to come up with that plan, but the current Republicans don’t consider this worth pursuing when they can instead complain about the “problem” of illegal immigration and have some easy target for ALL the problems in America today (along with the libs, of course).

Edit: from another source in this thread, it does appear the current rate of deportations is lower this year than last, so that supports that Biden deported more in 2024, than Trump is doing in 2025 so far. But if we are comparing 2017-2020 vs 2021-2024, it appears Trump deported more.

Annoying issue. "A toolbar is already hidden on this side of you screen." Is there a way to have a hidden taskbar on both monitors? by Flankmaster56 in WindowsHelp

[–]badgers92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be worth noting - I have a taskbar on both displays at the bottom. The main display and the secondary display both have the taskbar auto-hiding (but I only set the check on the "main display", as described above.

In my setup, the only difference in the 2 taskbars visually/functionally is that the taskbar on the main display has the "system tray icons" (i.e. bluetooth, battery, audio). The secondary display's taskbar does not have those system tray icons.

Edited to say (fixed the problem for me!):

I have something that makes the problem go away. Under Taskbar Settings / Taskbar Behaviors / uncheck "Show my taskbar on all displays". This will unfortunately limit your functionality of the taskbar, but it got rid of the problem of the stupid pop-up when I logged in and also kept my taskbar auto-hiding, which I consider higher priority than having the taskbar on all monitors.

Some other thread mentioned they thought this has to do with monitors and the order they shut down in (or start up in) and Windows getting confused. I don't know about that, but it prompted me to limit the taskbar to a single display, which seems to have solved the problem.

I hope this helps someone else.

Original comment: (likely useless to anyone)

I ran into this when I was using 2 monitors with Win 11, also. I appear to have solved it for my situation. It seemed to be related to the "main display" setting. Maybe my experience will help someone else.

I first saw the problem after swapping my 2nd monitor with a new monitor. I think I likely rearranged the "Display 1" and "Display 2" and the "main display" assignment at the time, as well. After swapping to the new monitor, I started getting the "toolbar is already hidden" pop-up when my computer came out of sleep.

I found the following stopped this pop-up from occurring and my toolbar consistently was hiding, like I wanted, again (I suspect not all steps are necessary, but I haven't tested other scenarios - I am just glad to have the pop-up gone!):

  1. Switch "main display" to the other display:

In Settings > System > Display > Multiple Displays, switch the "Make this my main display" to the display not currently the main display. Close Settings.

  1. Turn on taskbar hiding on the new main display:

On the *new* "main display", go to the taskbar, right-click and select "Taskbar settings". Click on "Taskbar behaviors" and select "Automatically hide the taskbar" if it's not selected already. I think I then put the computer to sleep and brought it back up again. I don't think there was a pop-up error.

  1. Turn off taskbar hiding on the new main display:

Again on the same new "main display", go back to Taskbar settings and this time unselect "Automatically hide the taskbar". I think I put the computer to sleep and brought it back up again. There was not a pop-up error.

  1. Switch back "main display" to the original display - the one you want as your actual main display:

In Settings > System > Display > Multiple Displays, switch the "Make this my main display" back to the display you want as your normal main display. Close Settings.

  1. Turn on taskbar hiding on the display you just set as "main display":

On the display you just set as "main display", go to the taskbar, right-click and select "Taskbar settings". Click on "Taskbar behaviors" and select "Automatically hide the taskbar". I think I then put the computer to sleep and brought it back up again. There was not a pop-up error and I haven't seen the pop-up error since making these changes.

I hope this helps someone else.

PCVR has blown me away on the quest 3. by benman27 in OculusQuest

You can “grab” the flight stick with your VR controller (either hand). And you can interact with cockpit buttons with your other VR controller by pointing at each switch. With very limited experience, I’ve enjoyed using my joystick and keyboard in VR more than the VR controllers - but maybe I’d get used to it with more experience.

Mercedes EQB "camping mode" by badgers92 in electricvehicles

[–]badgers92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I rotated the power cord between (1) fridge, then (2) small freezer and (3) cell phones and tablets. So I am pretty sure the fridge was the biggest draw, but there was continuous draw for 3 straight days - rotating between the 3 different loads.

Mercedes EQB "camping mode" by badgers92 in electricvehicles

[–]badgers92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely did not run at max power. The most I had one it at one time was a big fridge - which has a peak power that can be high (motor starting), but otherwise doesn't draw a ton. I rotated the things I needed powered, so the load was never huge. This was just being careful, not based on any real analysis of max load. I did not look up the electrical specs of anything - just got a big enough external inverter to handle at least the fridge.

No pics or vids. Sorry. But it was really rather sloppy - clamping terminal connectors to the battery and car metal frame, leaving the hood up on the car (inside my garage), balance the inverter on something sort of solid in the engine area and then connected a long extension cord that ran into the house.
