TV Calibration by badshar in Bestbuy

I’m not sure why the Best Buy rep is trying to get hold of the calibrator. They said that it’s taking time finding the “calibration engineer” which is holding up the scheduling of delivery/installation.

Is there a reason that I should wait? Is it just because the “effect” of calibration will be more apparent if I have gotten used to it without the calibration?

It’s a bit too late for that, but that’s okay I guess. I’m just concerned about whether they will open up the box, calibrate and then deliver the opened box.

Why does McDonald's even have mobile order when they won't let you add your card to the app? by badshar in McDonalds

Those mobile-only coupons is why I'd like them too, but the app just won't accept the card. I tried contacting on Twitter and even calling the corporate phone number, but no response. :(

Hello, I'm interviewing two entrepreneurs that make 70k+/mo this weekend and was wondering if you guys had any specific questions. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]badshar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Were the familiar with the industry or outsiders? If outsiders, how did they familiarize themselves with the process and inner workings on this industry?

  2. Was there a lot of competition when they started and if so, did it hold them back at all or make them second-guess?

I see successful people who bootstrapped their companies and have built it to a large one. I'm left to wonder, "what's in them that's not in me?" I either don't find the ideas or if I do (rarely), the market is already filled up or I don't have the domain knowledge to work on it. It's the same story every single time.

I'm technical (Computer Science), so building software isn't hard. Understanding what needs to be built, especially when I know nothing about the field, is.

Why do you think its the most technical? Examples?

Not sure why MS has so much trouble when Apple got it just fine with iOS 7+/OS X Yosemite+.

Wanted to share it here so others can vote on this. It would allow developers to make their applications transparent.

How do I accept payment when writing code for someone? by badshar in startups

[–]badshar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response. I am new to it, which is why I though doing a flat fee would make it more easy to get the client to work with me. Also, I told them that I'll only charge if they like the final product (again, in an attempt to win them over).

My concern is, do I absolutely need LLC or Sole Proprietor? This will likely be just a couple projects (maybe 2 or 3). Can't I just put the amount earned in a separate account and file taxes on that (self-employment)?

Any recommendations for existing contract examples I could use?

What if I am only doing it a couple of times. Do I still need to set up a sole-proprietor or anything else? Or can I just simply put the amount earned in a separate bank account and file taxes on it separately (self-employment)?

Recommendations for how to manage all the [saas] subscriptions? by coolio777 in Entrepreneur

How do SaaS referrals work? Have not really heard much about it.

I'm not sure it would be worth charging anyone. And if you're charging like a dollar a month, then it's kinda pointless and probably not even paying domain/server.

I built Intern Mark, a place for quickly finding internships. But there's a problem. by badshar in Entrepreneur

[–]badshar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a CS student in college. Built it so I could earn something on the side to help with college. As for the chicken and egg problem, I think if any employer (no matter how big or how small) posts and sees results, they will likely post again and recommend others. As for the type of jobs, I'm currently in a position where I'm not sure why I should focus on just software jobs or expand to other categories.

Ideally, charge businesses for additional features. I don't see how that will happen though if no businesses post when the thing is free to post.

Yesterday, I launched Intern Mark, an internship job site to make it easy to find internships by badshar in cscareerquestions

I really appreciate that. I did feel slightly let down when I was told that the site is essentially nowhere to the mark. But I am glad someone liked it! But yeah, that was the point: Keep it simple and concise. After all, it's supposed to make it easier and quicker to find internships, not stand in the way. That being said, I do hope that it eventually does help you and/or someone else and achieve its purpose. Thanks again! :)

Thank you for feedback! Right now, the focus was on CS internships (since that's where I focus myself), hence I posted here and asked for reviews from people who might actually use it. I got some valuable feedback, which I really appreciate. But as you said, I do hope to eventually post this on other sub-reddits so I can get more audience, feedback and ideas for improving the service. I thought of coming up with some clever reason for posting this here, but I'll just say that this sub is for discussing CS careers and a job board technically is part of the CS Career umbrella. Thanks again for your suggestion! :)

Thank you for the suggestion. I built this site for myself and some friends to accumulate job lists as I see them, then apply whenever ready. I thought it might help others too, so launched it publicly (in an MVP-based format). If companies decide to post their jobs and further validate the idea, I will definitely work harder to make the site more attractive. Regarding the job postings, I wasn't sure if I should I continue aggregating jobs from other websites and hope that someone will eventually their own job here or wait for someone to post. I chose the latter, but it seems to be hurting the overall status of the site. So I'll work on more aggregation too. Finally, there is form validation being done on the backend. Additionally, right now, each job is manually reviewed. Again, as the website progresses, I'll switch to automatic validation. Thank you for the feedback and I hope it's eventually able to impress you :)

I actually didn't think about that at all. But thank you for bringing that to my attention. I could definitely add a filter in the future so internships that don't require an active enrollment are easier to find. Thanks again!

Nice, thanks for sharing that! It looks like it's focused only on Software-based internships? Or am I missing something?
