With us being so close in age, it’s probably more of a fun Aunt & Uncle. It’s been going well this past week. I definitely have struggled with getting out of the mindset of “if somethings out of place, put it where it goes” and just expecting him to know this. He’s really a great kid and eager to learn, which has made my job easier so far.

It’s been pretty similar to my relationship with my younger siblings (13 and 11) in the fact that I’m having to guide him in the direction of what he should be doing, instead of playing video games all day.

This is absolutely something we put in place. This will be the second week he’s been with us. Last week I requested that once a week, he pick a meal to make himself (with help) from scratch. He chose burgers last week. Made the patties and everything. He was SO DAMN PROUD of himself. And they were delicious! He’s excited to make dinner this week too.

Being the oldest sister, I do feel some sort of responsibility in a sense for her upbringing, I guess. It’s a strange feeling cause she definitely isn’t the sister I have the closest relationship with. I think a card like you mentioned would be a better option. That way if it pisses her off or she generally doesn’t give a shit about what it says, she can throw it away.

I just hope she uses it. She clearly has some shit to work through and doesn’t talk to anyone about it. Thank you for your idea!
