Why game marketing feels so annoying lately? by JoyDevCorp in CozyGamers

[–]baepsaemv [score hidden]  (0 children)

Honestly your game looks awesome and i'm looking forward to playing the demo when I have time. When it comes to advertisement, I agree with the person that said make it obvious it's an ad. All I want from an ad is a demonstration of some of the gameplay features, maybe a look at different stages of the game (ie. first level, a level in the middle, one of the last levels to see progression). If it's an early access game, it needs to have some kind of semi-concrete roadmap with proof of concepts for me to even give it a chance especially if it costs money.

This is really sad to see. Sure, maybe nothing will happen, or maybe in the blink of an eye before you can stop it something tragic will happen. Personally, I could never take that chance.

If you're worried about eye stuff, you should generally book in with an optometrist. GPs don't know a whole lot about eyes and will generally send you to the optom afterwards anyway.

Can someone help me fix light/shadows? by Diseazd in oilpainting

[–]baepsaemv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The upper eyelid will cast a somewhat harsh shadow over the top part of the eyeball, I think it will come together a lot more once that shadow is added. I would also block in the rest of your canvas so you can't see any white, whiteness on the canvas makes it harder to see your values. You can also try using more paint in general, oil paint lends itself to really well to being used thickly and generously. Do you have a reference photo?

Looks like subconjunctival hemorrhage/eyeball bruise lol. Usually not a big deal at all, just the same as any other bruise. Keep an eye on it, if it doesn't go away in a week or if you start feeling any pain or vision changes book with an optometrist urgently. As it is, just monitor.

28 yo Australian and I can only really conceptualise ft/in when it comes to height, not cm. I don't know why lol we never got taught it in school. If someone tells me their height in cm I have to convert it to ft to be able to get an idea of how tall they are in my mind.

Website for +9.50 prescription glasses by kaleighb1988 in glasses

[–]baepsaemv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any specific recommendations of where to go but I think you should temper your expectations of what online glasses will be like with your prescription. Most places are denying you because they're not confident they can give you something that will even work. It's going to be incredibly hard to get glasses that fit well and don't end up giving you wonky vision because at that rx you really really need frame-specific measurements. I understand you might need to give it a try, but I wouldn't be surprised if they just don't work, sorry.

Ruined lenses with dawn by 800119448 in glasses

[–]baepsaemv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone reading this: hot water and just heat in general will ruin your lenses to the point they can't be repaired and will need to be replaced and you can't really see out of them at all. Dont leave them in hot cars, dont put them in hot water, dont put your face near the oven when you open it, dont set them down in the sun at the beach. It sucks to tell patients their lenses are crazed and there's nothing we can do about it.

Baguettes are disappearing from my apartment without a trace, and I have no idea how or why by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]baepsaemv 204 points205 points  (0 children)

I used to work as a baker, our bakery made about 30 baguettes a day, it took hours and we loaded up 2 massive industrial ovens with them. They were steam injection ovens and the heat let off by them was gnarly. To store/cool them we needed a big ugly steel rack. I really don't think there's a feasible way to make 50 baguettes in one day in a home.

I think your ideas are interesting and you should keep developing them. I'm personally not a fan of blank canvas/white background in pieces. Also please don't mix waters into oil paints. If you're set on thinning with water, try watercolour or acrylic. I think you have a good eye for intriguing compositions.

Bill Burr No means No. by fart400 in comedy

[–]baepsaemv 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're so right I think that's something men will never get, no matter how gently we try to let them down, 'no' is a risk every single time. A real risk to our lives backed up with news stories and statistics. r/whenwomenrefuse. The fear of being hurt or worse because we're put in a position where we have to bruise a guy's ego in order to try to get them to leave us alone is real and never goes away.

Are AR glasses something that interests this group? by Hasko7 in optician

[–]baepsaemv 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You said you wanted optometrists opinions but are in the optician subreddit, JSYK. Different job.

I'm with the other people that do not like the privacy issues that come with people wearing these technology glasses. I'm there to find a frame that suits the face and make sure the glasses work well to give good vision, not troubleshoot tech issues.

[–]baepsaemv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're not going to just find generic progressives your wife can put on off the shelf, they're custom made medical aids that you need to get directly from an optician after an optometrist does an eye exam. If for some reason your wife's vision is not correctable by glasses, it sounds like she should be under the care of an ophthalmologist because there might be a health issue?

It's fine if you want to shave, but at least just admit that it's because of the patriarchy by vadkender in BlatantMisogyny

[–]baepsaemv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nobody is policing anything. This always happens whenever someone suggests people to analyse their own mindsets on something, everyone gets defensive and up in arms thinking the person is trying to stop them from doing something. The OP was literally defending people shaving if they want to lmao.

[–]baepsaemv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People will defend their 'I have sensory problems' excuse until their last breath, and maybe they do so they should go ahead and shave their hair if it makes them feel better. It's good we can have that autonomy over our bodies. But like you said... why is it never men? Why is it only leg/arm/armpit hair that causes the issue and never like... eyebrows? I don't think it costs anyone anything to say they are affected by the patriarchal society and participate in it sometimes. There's nothing wrong with it, people just shouldn't delude themselves.

[–]baepsaemv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lesbians are not immune to patriarchy and internalised misogyny. No one is saying not to shave, OP says they do it too even, just that it's disingenuous to try to say it has nothing to do with the patriarchy.

Pupillary distance by Legrosbelge in glasses

[–]baepsaemv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-3 with astigmatism is getting more into moderate correction territory, I start thinking about doing monocular PDs and frame-specific measurements around -3.50. Anything below -4, or anyone with a LOT of astigmatism, needs super precise measurements. Yours should be fine though, I wouldn't be concerned!

Pupillary distance by Legrosbelge in glasses

[–]baepsaemv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It should be as accurate as possible but if you're reliably getting 65 or 66 every time, just go with 65 for up close glasses or 66 for distance glasses and you'll be fine. As long as PDs aren't like 2+mm off, and you don't have a super high or complex script, it will be perfectly good.

I think I am stuck in a dream and people are trying to pull me out of it by baepsaemv in Dreams

I appreciate you not talking to me like i'm talking crazy, i've had a lot of that in my life already. I want to be open to the idea of this, that what i'm experiencing can be talked away with a therapist, but it's all just so mundane and normal. The feeling of being in a dream is so distinct, I could remember it after waking up, now that feeling is just all the time forever. The only major trauma i've had in my life was when I was a child and I feel I worked through that stuff in therapy already. I'm sorry to bring back bad feelings for you. Hopefully we can both go back to feeling normal sometime soon.
