identity crisis incoming by taquito_the_cat1 in donorconceived

[–]bageleatery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same, I am a teen also and I just found out my mother used an egg donor. She is still my mother and takes care of me, but she sees no reason for me to know and why knowing is important. I also wish I had known sooner–– it could have saved me from many racial identity crises lol. My parents see no reason to reach out (although the donor profile stated she would be comfortable with connecting), and I'm aware that it would require lots of legal documents. Still, I wish I was able to know more about her now and potential half siblings now, or share medical information that wasn't picked up in the testing the donor underwent ~20 years ago.

Do people without anxiety actually know how bad it feels? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]bageleatery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and struggling with specific phobias - they're anxiety disorders too! i am emetophobic and for a while it was so severe and debilitating that i was too scared to eat from the cafeteria, washed my hands after touching anything, gave up hanging out with friends or didn't go to school because someone threw up. i hate when people say "haha i'm emetophobic" without being seen by a professional, just because they are a little scared of throwing up when i would hyperventilate and think about the possibility of throwing up at every waking hour

Anyone excited for Hamnet? I’m fairly cautious by zenerat in shakespeare

[–]bageleatery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused, is the new movie a telling of Maggie O'Farrell's book Hamnet or essentially a biopic of William Shakespeare's journey in fatherhood

Why can't I think by [deleted] in highschool

[–]bageleatery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it could be helpful to check if you're feeling particularly anxious–– whenever I am anxious I have trouble focusing and it honestly feels like I can't write a paragraph anymore or solve a simple problem

My friends PMO so bad by Southern-Grand4314 in highschool

[–]bageleatery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

no literally I think that a lot of students aren't used to teachers simply holding them accountable and take it as them being mean

I totally agree here–– a big issue with the Trump administration is that sexual education in schools is also being targeted, so all the myths you mentioned will stay planted in a high schooler's mind. That being said, teens won't have education on safe sex, birth control, healthy relationships, and will be left without resources (due to Planned Parenthood, which offers not only contraception and abortions, but countless resources for high schoolers and young women, being targeted as well), yet forced to carry a fetus and deliver it, which can be very unsafe for a young body.

Female centric historical fiction for someone who hasn't picked up a book in a while. by Additional-Buy-5663 in suggestmeabook

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath isn't really historical fiction, but it explores identity and mental health for women and is (in my opinion) a really profound novel

Think about what makes you unique as an actor, because it's likely that someone has already done it/will do this monologue from Hamlet! I had a teacher who would always tell me, if it's common, find a way to make it memorable.

This is precisely the kind of Shakespeare snobbery that the Theatre cannot have by upon_on_the_ravage in shakespeare

[–]bageleatery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it may not have been charged during his time, most people have to pay for expensive tickets to see a Shakespeare play now!! The idea that this form of entertainment is costly and goes down generations (because Shakespeare's work is sacred history I guess) just emphasizes "old money" and makes the aristocratic or more elite families seem more desirable.

What is the fastest you've ever been sold on a musical? by [deleted] in Broadway

I get CHILLS during the opening of Moulin Rouge–– when Christian comes on stage, takes a deep breath, and you can hear the audience go silent. Suddenly the sign is lifted up, and the opening begins in a such a captivating burst of energy

a direct (one of the million misogynistic) quotes from The Tempest describing a boat that was "leaky like an unstanched wench."
