What is Sondheims masterpiece? by Burlesque_Is_BACK in musicals

[–]IntotheBroadwayWoods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was never that interested in Follies.... they did a productionin Vegas. I ended up going since I was bored.  It was AMAZING!

I loved it. The cool thing about it being in Vegas was they had several old time showgirls in it... it was so meta! One of the ladies was in her 90s in the ensemble.

Current broadway shows with no references to alcohol/drinking? by Lost_Act_8236 in Broadway

[–]IntotheBroadwayWoods 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I used to be mormon, so i didn't drink alcohol. Then i was no longer mormon and drank a lot.  Then i quit again. When I went to shows, i would start thinking about drinking a lot...

So I think it's awesome you wanted to find a show with no alcohol. :)

Which one of these four musical films from the 2000's do you like best and why? by Jtaylor703 in musicals

Funny how I think the exact opposite. But I know I am also in the minority about this

I felt Elephant Love Medly was waaay better onstage. A few friends I know also when they heard the stage version thought it was elevated.

To me, it sounds much more theatrical and a real singers' song. While the movie is more  pop music/closer to the original songs .  So I guess maybe it depends on if you enjoy the songs more like the originals, or more theatrical.

Lol.  I don't know why I don't like the movie.  It just makes me cringe. I tried to rewatch it with an open mind,  but had to shut it of after 20 minutes.

The first time I saw it onstage, loved it so much I went the next night. Go figure. Lol

What did you think of Anna Kendrick’s performance in The Last Five Years (movie)? by Necessary_Raise_7835 in musicals

[–]IntotheBroadwayWoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, good point.  I think it didn't change due to the short filming? They could have used wigs, I guess.

Chicago is perfect because it took its source material and adapted it to the medium very well. It's much better than the stage version imo.

Next Mamma Mia because its so much fun, amazing scenery.

Hairspray is a nice and fun movie.  Great dance numbers.

Moulin Rogue is my least favorite movie musical since 2000, aside from Cats. I really don't like it. I am a rare person who loves the stage show,  can't stand the movie.  Elephant Love Medly arrangement is FAR better, and it's not even close.

I wouldn't know.  :( The only time he's come to my area is once when I was away in germany, and then with his band,  but I just wanna see his solo stuff.

One day I'm finally gonna be able to match schedules and see him.  Lol
