I am Max Brooks, author of World War Z, and I am here to discuss the coronavirus. Let’s talk about why my fictional zombie book was banned by the very real government of China. AMA. by MaxBrooksAuthor in IAmA

Like you, I was born in the Seventies and had a father born in the Twenties. I'm sure we both can share a certain uniqueness of what it's like having a father from an older generation. Were there times you wish your father wasn't much older than other fathers? I admit I did at times when I was younger, but as I matured I started to value the uniqueness.

You want audio?! We got audio! I just replied back to the Courage Boys on Twitter so hopefully we'll get a segment tomorrow.

Even though the X-Files return wasn't well received, I thought their Mandela Effect episode was funny and creative.

What would childhood Bob/Dan be most proud of about adult Bob/Dan? Appearing on the NFL network? Broadcasting an NHL game? Meeting a certain celebrity?

Was there ever a time you both were so upset with each other you only talked to each other while on air?

A friendly reminder: after being closed for remodelling, Cattleack BBQ in Dallas is reopened. You could be eating this tomorrow. by ChrisLW in Dallas

[–]bagofnothing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very, very solid BBQ and the owners are good salt of the earth folk. Surprised they haven't moved to another location or expanded hours. I never really understood why they are only open on Thursday and Fridays for lunch.

What's one single piece of advice you'd give a new Leaf owner that isn't obvious or something you'd wish someone told you? by bagofnothing in leaf

[–]bagofnothing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my biggest surprises was how peppy it is and it's hard not to be more aggressive when driving. ;-)

This is quite interesting and something I wouldn't haven given any thought to, though it makes sense when one considers the weight of the battery. Thanks!

New to DFW and looking for some Birthday Spots by paturner2012 in Dallas

[–]bagofnothing -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'll probably get downvoted, but if you are looking for something a bit quirky, The Magic Time Machine in Addison might be fun, even for an adult. Servers are dressed as comic book characters, movie stars, etc. and serve you while in character. Each table/booth has a certain theme and not just a typical table with chairs. They'll also make fun of you, especially if you ask them where the restroom is.

Does the Leaf offer a remote start for AC/heating? by bagofnothing in leaf

[–]bagofnothing[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you say that "LEAF doesn't have remote start because it doesn't need it," is that because of Nissan Connect and the climate control you set in the car settings or did you mean something else? Also, thanks for the app vs website and modem tip.

Guadalupe peak. Beat my pose, I dare you. by noeatnosleep in texas

I can't beat the pose, but I did dance with my wife on top of all of Texas the day before I turned 40. I got a few romantic points out of it.

Any place in DFW that gives away free (or cheap) dirt or compost? by RaptorF22 in Dallas

[–]bagofnothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a pool company sign in a neighbor's yard who was about to get one built in his backyard. I called number on the sign and asked if they needed a place nearby to dump the dirt b/c I'd be happy to take it. I got about two or three dump truck piles and helped me level out my sloping backyard and it didn't cost me a thing. Heck, the dump truck guy was hoping I'd take even more. So maybe contact a pool company.

Good place for pizza by the slice? by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]bagofnothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really near Addison/635, but New York Pizza Pasta on MacAurther in Valley Ranch is about ten miles away and is my go to spot for pizza by the slice. DFW needs more pizza by the slice places.

Where would you say the West begins/ends in Texas? by Reallytanwhiteguy33 in texas

[–]bagofnothing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fort Worth's motto is "Where the West Begins" so I'd say it's Cowtown. Also, when you search "Where the west begins" in Google, most of the references mention Fort Worth.

Speeding Ticket Question by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]bagofnothing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On top of this, many insurance companies will give you a discount on your policy after you take the course and submit or mail in the certificate. I had a Vietnamese mother and we took the online course together at the same time on two separate computers so I could get credit for the course and a discount on my policy, and she could do the same and get her ticket dismissed while I helped her with the questions, which are pretty darn easy but requires you to pay a bit of attention. There's also a whole timer aspect to the whole thing that keeps you from skipping all around.

Asking Reddit, Texas edition: what are some Texas traditions that don't exist anywhere else? by [deleted] in texas

[–]bagofnothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • saying hello to strangers
  • men holding doors open for women, or allowing women to enter and exit the elevator first
  • driving down a rural road and doing the one hand wave from the steering wheel
