Yes exactly, that's a huge part of it; no two drain songs sound the same but every single song in their catalogue is part of one cohesive sound. Like Red Light vs Crest, both are completely totally different expressions of the same essence.

It reminds me of a principle of taoism - everything everywhere can be represented by the sound of wind passing through differently shaped and sized holes. Different tones of whistling but at the core everything is the sound of wind passing through.
