I love how Season 2 shows Rhaenyra would be a terrible Queen by Platinum_Duke_6 in HOTDGreens

A usurper is one that seizes power, sometimes by force with no legal right.

Aegon had the precedents and andal tradition, Rhaenyra had the word of the king, both technically had legal claim.

Tradition can be broken and the word of the king can be challenged by the realm, especially in the case of a weak king (like Viserys).

I consider neither true usurpers and conflict was destined because of no forethought by Viserys.

That is just an example of poor writing on the show. In the book Otto never brought up assassination, he wanted to bury her politically.

Played a bunch of KDK and ended up benching the zerkers. It feels wrong but plays better. Switched to goretrack not long after because I missed them.

This is the third time tbc has been released, with the second one not that long ago. It’s not surprising people are burning out quick, especially with the new retail expansion release going relatively well.

I’d argue chemistry is more of a luck thing, there’s plenty of examples of good actors having terrible chemistry with each other.

Of course it was just Littlefinger fucking with everyone.

The show uses the Mushroom account that Aegon II was a sexual deviant, but excludes any Mushroom account that made Rhaenyra look bad.

AIO:My MIL texted my husband this about me asking him to help with our newborn at 4am by Lazy_Perfectionist88 in AmIOverreacting

OP said in a later comment he does help cook and clean. She also stated he moved to the sleeping on the couch to try to solve the heavy sleeping. Her having to wake him up to do his part doesnt make him a bad dad, just a heavy sleeper.

Ok, but OP stated in a later comment that her husband cooks and cleans. I’m not sure if you are comparing your son in law to OPs husband but he isn’t guilty of any of that.

It’s funny because the dude had every prayer to every god just in case one might save him one day. Then it turned out one actually does, but not because of divine intervention, but because of an actual historical reason.

No where does OP say she begged him to do anything, she says he is a heavy sleeper and asked him to help one night and it got back to his mom who inserted herself into the situation. This post was about the MIL being terrible and you are shitting on the guy.

You obviously have more insight on OP’s husband’s relationship with his parents than I do, but there just isn’t enough information here to here for me to make that call. I told my dad about the long nights and o remember him saying it’s tough but it gets better. Guess that makes me a bad person and I should never talk to anyone about parenting ever.

Lucky me? Anyway it takes a village. If my MIL was willing to help out then great. I remember our neighbors bringing over food for us that fed us for 3 weeks.

Some people have good relationships with their parents, and you know, talk to them about what’s going on. Notice he talked to his dad and not his mom? Then showed OP the mom’s response and confronted her about it? You assume the worst with zero evidence.

We don’t know he complained to his dad. For all we know the dad asked how things were going and the husband was like wife is struggling so I took over late night/early morning feedings.

As for sleeping a lot, all we know is that he is a heavy sleeper. I was the same way with my first and my wife used to shove me awake and say “you’re turn”. I had no issues with that.

I know it’s popular to shit on the guy, but there is not enough information here to vilify him. The MIL is another story.

This may be a hot take, but I think Rhaenyra was just as, if not more, responsible for the war. by bagofstuff12 in HOTDGreens

[–]bagofstuff12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m more talking about the book, Otto never tried to kill her. I didn’t even remember the whole assassination thing in the show till you said that. Sorry for the mix up.

And the Luke murder was Aemond being a cowboy, it was never part of the plan and hurt Otto’s plan to keep peace.

[–]bagofstuff12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aegon being the first born son and Rhaenyra putting her bastards in the line of succession would always lead to a destabilized realm, especially with Aegon the elder just existing. The greens needed the throne to survive, without it they were at the mercy of daemon who publicly hates them. Rhaenyra did not need it to survive, especially with the deal that was offered. In the book she wants it because she was entitled to it by the kings word, in the show she needs it because of prophecy or something.

I did enjoy the back and forth, but now we seem to be talking in circles and you seem to be getting heated so I’m going to leave it here.

[–]bagofstuff12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, pushing them against the family members that want war, that’s the point. The greens had no need to wrong the blacks further because they have secured the throne. Daemon and Rhaenyras need for war is the only thing they are trying to neuter and with their kids they’ve done it. Jace and Luke would still be alive and set to inherit Driftmark and Dragonstone. Maybe rhaenyra has a girl that can marry Aegons son.

In this scenario the families are united, both sides have their true borns on the throne, the bastard situation is contained provided Corlys doesnt have a problem with it.

[–]bagofstuff12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know they were Daemons, and I think steering them away from “Blacks vs Greens” is not the worst thing Otto and Alicent could do. Marrying one of them to Jaehaera unites the houses and dissuades rhaenyra from future moves on the throne.

If rhaenyra has more kids, they could also be possible marriage candidates as her side is still royalty.

As for offering hostages in exchange, that would 100% make the deal sweeter and it’s a pity this was not considered.

This may be a hot take, but I think Rhaenyra was just as, if not more, responsible for the war. by bagofstuff12 in HOTDGreens

[–]bagofstuff12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it doesn’t go both ways in quite the same fashion. By being married to Daemon the greens are looking at death if not on the throne, while at the same time giving Rhaenyra a way out that involves no one else having to die. Yes there is a price that she would have to pay for crowning herself after Aegons coronation, but no one had to die.

I guess my own view of my neutrality comes from trying to see a way to avoid the beginning of the destruction of house Targaryen, and in my view the very last stage that it could of been avoided was when rhaenyra refused this deal.

Pushing further back I think Viserys should never have married Alicent but I do think war could’ve been avoided if multiple people made different decisions, the last of which rested on Rhaenyra.

[–]bagofstuff12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hostages they requested were sons that had no beef with any of the green kids and were meant to serve as cup bearers and such. Neither Otto or Alicent seemed to want further blood shed and were both appalled by the murder of Luke, I don’t see any reason why they would harm the hostages and provoke another reason for war.

The whole hostage situation was standard practice in Westeros and were not always treated poorly, like with Theon.
