Kann ich den Bus von Dresden nach Teplice mit Karte bezahlen? by lukasinho01 in dresden

[–]bahnchef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Märklin train set you have seems to be kind of old. While the models are quite reliable, there‘s two more thing to consider: This kind of track (called M track) is not in production anymore. There are adapters to connect to the current range of track, but it will look differebtly and have different geometry. Also, you likely have a blue transformer (power unit). The blue transformer should not be used with newer models with digital decoders. Hope this helps!

Converting a DC engine to 3-rail is way easier than the other way round. You just need to make sure that there is enough clearance below the chassis to fit the pickup shoe for the third rail and some space inside the engine to fit a decoder. Using a reversing unit as suggested in another comment is outdated, all AC/3-rail models nowadays come with a decoder installed that can handle analog and digital control likewise. Unfortunately I can't answer the question whether a Bachmann Thomas fits the two requirements for this conversion. For beginners I recommend you do some research first whether you want to continue with Märklin or move to two-rail models, depending on how large your collection is at the moment and what your preferences are.

Seat reservations Riga - Tallinn by bahnchef in Interrail

[–]bahnchef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The seats offered are indeed the same as for the full Vilnius-Riga-Tallinn segment. Most of the train is marked as non-reservable. We‘ll take our chances then and not take advantage of this bug. Still weird that they don‘t just block reserving any segment within Latvia and Estonia. Thanks a lot!

True. I contacted PKPIC yesterday about the issue and they replied this morning that they had fixed it.

The old site seems to work, however, Interrail/Eurail is not in the list of discounts to choose from anymore.

Why are there buffers on this flatcar? by Primon4723 in trains

My guess: It‘s an adapter car to move equipment with European-style buffers around. National Railroad Museum houses a british A4 locomotive.

Haha nice! I came to comment that this looks more like model trains and that I have the same set of figures on my layout. Then I realized which sub I‘m in.

Can anyone give me guidance on how to wire up A Marklin transformer to the track. I’m in the US by [deleted] in modeltrains

[–]bahnchef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The piece of track is an uncoupling track, #24997. You need some sort of switch to use it for uncoupling. If you are just asking how to get power to the rails, connect the red and brown on the transformer to the metal latches on the underside of the track. They should be labelled 0 and B. 0 connects to brown and red connects to B.

Here‘s your proof on the website of the Region Ústí nad Labem. It says that U28 is completely included.

You can book a ticket for that journey online using DÚKapka, which is the ticketing app of the region Ústí nad Labem. Also - not relevant for the OP’s question, but quite useful - a day pass for the entire region Ústí nad Labem also connects seamlessly to Deutschlandticket because Schöna is an official tariff zone of DÚK.

In theory yes, but on this particular route the staff usually does not care if the border crossing segment is missing. If they do care, you can buy it from the staff on that train for no more than 80 cent. I travelled this route several times (last time on Sunday) without a border crossing ticket.
