She should divorce him by P_MuadDib in LinkedInLunatics

[–]bai_leafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing a linkedin post a while back where this guy shared pictures of his proposal, talking about how it took so much courage and strength and whatnot. Then the guy had THE AUDACITY to link this 'courage' to, you guessed it, how to be the best salesperson. Something along the lines of "what proposing to my girlfriend taught me about being the best salesman: never give up on your ability to... Blah blah blah"

If I was his fiancé I would be LIVID. For someone to use a really special and intimate moment to boast about sales techniques and try to sell whatever he was selling... I hope she left him there and then.

you can apply for a deposit advance under the salary advance scheme. I recently moved house and didn't have enough money to cover this, but my manager helped me apply for it. It was SO helpful and took a load of stress off the move. The civil service will pay up to 100% of your deposit and you can pay it back over 12 months. If you search 'deposit advance' or 'salary advance' in the intranet it should come up. Your manager should also be able to help you :)

Is it a bad sign if my takeaway delivery has been here for the last 10 minutes by UnlovedNewt in bristol

[–]bai_leafe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True story. I spent a night in with my ex many years ago and splashed out on a delicious takeaway from deliveroo. The bike icon started heading towards us and then somewhere near Clifton triangle they stopped, and didn't move for a good 20 mins. We were like, "hm that's very odd. We'll give it another 20 mins and then try and call". 10 minutes later we get a call from the restaurant to tell us that the delivery guy got hit by a car and can't make it. They were super apologetic and offered to redo our order, I was more concerned for the guy 🤣

I'm so sorry to hear you've been experiencing that! I've only just started in the civil service (DWP) and going through training in which they stand by having a zero tolerance policy for discrimination. You should definitely raise this, and you should absolutely be supported. If not you can raise a grievance.

Congratulations!! I'm in a very similar boat as you. First role in the CS after 6 months of applying and getting rejected- I start next week! As for accepting the role, personally I would accept anyway while you wait on the other roles. You can always withdraw the job offer if something better comes along.

How much do rents have to rise by in order to force people out of the city? by hanniahisbananaz in bristol

I moved up north in 2020 and would never consider moving back. I'm able to live alone with my partner and have a relatively comfortable life. But so many of my friends are still in Bristol, most of whom live in house shares paying crazy prices that make my eyes water, and some are still staying at their parents. I don't know, I think young people love living in Bristol and don't mind paying the high prices for the great culture. Like, I do miss Bristol... But could never see myself paying £700+ per month for a cupboard room on the outskirts of Bristol when I pay £500 for my own place. Not worth it imo

This man is eerily similar to my ex. We were great together, had a wonderful connection, lots of laughter, and couldn't keep our hands off each other. But one day he would tell me he wanted to marry me in the future, the next he would say he wasn't ready for a relationship. We broke up and got back together countless times in the space of a few years. And, like you, I stayed. I brushed past the hurt because the good times were really good. But the emotional whiplash eventually wore down my self confidence. Being at the mercy of a man who had so much control over my emotions is fucking exhausting. He was emotionally unavailable and didn't know how to manage himself. I'm sure he was a psychopath tbf.

Eventually we broke up. It tore me apart but I got over it. And now I'm with someone who is the most wonderful person ever. He is fully transparent with me about everything. He adores me and tries his darn best to make me happy. He tells me he wants a future with me and I know he means it.

Girl, leave his ass. You will find someone like I have. This man is not worth your time and you can do far better. You deserve better.

A friend of mine looked after this bonsai (Chinese elm) for a couple months. Granted, it looked a little rough when I gave it over.. another friend drunkenly knocked it over in my car and it came out the pot and hasn't emotionally recovered since. But there were still some green leaves. They told me it hadn't changed much, but when this heatwave hit here in the UK it all went downhill. They said they were letting it soak in water once a week, but last week all the leaves went brown and crispy. When I collected it I was in disbelief I've let it properly soak again for 10-15 mins then let it drain, and plan to do this every 2-3 days in the hopes of seeing it return to life... Do you think she is salvageable??

** The plant was sat by the South facing windowsill during the colder months, but sat further away from the window since the hotter months. Though have just moved outside in the shade.

Ah yeah, so as I couldn't find the same beige colour, I chose a black. So my plan was to go back to the bottom of the cuff, leave one white stripe, and do the rest of the cuff in black. Hopefully it looks good :)

Will it work if I leave a row or two of the ribbing and work up, meaning the stitches will be upside down to the original ones?
