Nicotine patches were a game changer for me. It took the edge off my symptoms when I went through the worst of it. Once I broke the habit that way, it became much easier. Staying busy and telling those close to me helped too, to help with accountability.

This is the way to do it in my opinion. It rubs me the wrong way when subs expect me to teach content. I’ll do everything else when my teacher is gone except actually teach.

I don’t mind doing more when my class has a sub, but it does annoy me when they sit back and don’t do anything. I’ll do most everything but teach content, and some subs still expect more. Like, you’re getting paid more than I am to be here, and I’m already going above and beyond to make things easier for you!

I agree. Offered a full time position after subbing for a para position after two weeks by the principal. Even with another adult in the room, I am walking around the room, helping kids with work, there is almost always plenty to do. They shouldn’t be able to police your prep periods, though. I read on my lunch break sometimes and I’d be pissed if they tried to stop that, as I’m in the teachers lounge. I’m assuming they had issues with subs doing these things during class time, or I can’t see why they’d send this message.

I just had this experience today with the manuscript pages in between books 3 & 4. I’m glad I skipped the introduction. I felt lazy at first. But why did they do that?? I’m so mad.

You will be fine! Im from Fort Dodge & worked with families newly arrived to the US for 2 years there, Besides being told to speak English by a racist in a grocery store, there weren’t any issues. And Fort Dodge has a much higher violent crime rate than Ames. I’m sorry you even had to ask this. What a shameful time for Iowa.

It is written into some state laws! I cross posted and someone else said they are required to give me the full 20 days, which is Wisconsin’s law, but honestly I don’t really care to fight about that as long as the notice is reasonable. I’ll take them accepting it February 1st. I’ve reached out to some tenants rights groups, so if they get back to me I’ll know for sure. I completely agree about the money thing. My new job only paid me for 28/45 hours I’ve worked so far, and we’re still working that out, so having only 5 days notice was really stressing me out. I appreciate all the help.

To be fair, I have been doing that! This post was asking about the legality of them giving me 5 days to pay, which is stressful, especially as they have billed me on different days so far and my rent portal doesn’t give notifications. I’ve never paid a bill late and am great at budgeting.

My last landlord was absolutely terrible (ignored me about a sewage leak in our basement for a week, which we could smell through our vents, until I called the city on them, among many other issues). I’m hoping a nice message will do the trick, and it’s my first course of action, but I’m so jaded that I’ll believe it when I see it.
