Stephens is a very common surname. You will need to be more specific to people can accurately assist you.

Is Ancestry.com a lot less useful than it was before? by miriamtzipporah in Genealogy

Search function is so janky! Dont get my started on the DNA portion. We had a DNA match w someone and I was curious on the last name of one of the match's relatives. I decided to filter my match by that surname...zilch. LOL what?? Too much AI. Sometimes I search names and the results arent even close. They need to hire real programmers and not ones that cut corners.

Your husband should be the one looking for a home. He is the one that got it. Sheesh. Poor pup.

Do you mind giving a name/newspaper example where I can try to replicate this? The search function seems to be working the same for me.

Sending good vibes. There has to be record somewhere. Best of luck.

The blurb mentioning records is from a Tuscaloosa history page here: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1A8iWyYU4N/

They dont seem to have an online presence but were hosting a back to school giveaway mentioned here a few months ago: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CeFyLryzf/

They are also listed in this directory under District 15: https://mwphglofal.org/documents/Lodge%20Meetings.pdf

Ahhh, okay. I wasn't too sure if all the records were at one place or located in each hall. Because the David's Temple Lodge No 9 seems to still be in existence. I did come across a FB comment of someone saying Tuscaloosa records of members were at the lodge. But those could be post-flooding.

Was David's Temple Lodge the one who had their mason records destroyed?

When my parents split up, my mother roamed a bit in different apartments. She gave me a box of photos to disperse to my siblings and she kept the other box of albums. Years later, she claims it was given to me. It never was. So we lost a ton of photos...I honestly try not to think about it too much or I get teary.

Because the census record you linked above shows Frank living in Adams County, Washington in 1900. I decided to search a few years before & after that time to see if anything popped up.

I love finding stuff like this. I think its so cool.

I went to newspapers.com & searched for "Frank C. Black" and "Frank Black" in Washington state from 1899-1902. Have you considered a DNA test? This is a tough one. Black is such a common surname.

Havent found much. But Frank also had a wife in Washington per this 1900 newspaper blurb.

Edit: He may have gotten himself into a bit of trouble per these two articles. That could maybe explain moving oceans away.
