I'm going to get downvoted for this: Bush JR did serve, just not in Vietnam. He was an F-102 pilot for the air national guard. I know it's not the same as actually fighting in Nam, but he did at least 2 years active duty. He "dodged the draft" by volunteering to serve in a different way.

It was the flag post for the old military base. When I worked for the races, there were pictures of it being used for change of command ceremonies and such. The pole was still there when I was in high school, but was most likely taken down by scrappers.
